Pancreatic cancer is a disease in which normal cells in the pancreas malfunction and begins to grow uncontrollably. These cancerous cells can eventually interfere with proper functioning of the pancreas and spread to other parts of the body. The pancreas is a pear-shaped gland located in the abdomen between the stomach and the spine. It is about 6 inches in length and is composed of two major components: exocrine and endocrine. The exocrine component, made up of ducts and acini (small sacs on the end of the ducts), produce enzymes, which are specialized proteins released into the small intestine that help the body digest and break down food, particularly fats. It is the cells lining these pancreatic ducts that most frequently turn cancerous. These are called ductal adenocarcinomas of the pancreas and represent the most common subtype of pancreatic cancer. It is important to distinguish neuroendocrine tumors from adenocarcinomas of the pancreas because the tumors act very differently. Pancreatic cancer often does not cause specific symptoms early on in its development; pancreatic cancers may not be detected until the cancer has metastasized beyond the pancreas to other areas of the body, such as the liver, lungs, or the peritoneum. The risk of developing pancreatic cancer increases with age. Most cases occur in people older than 60. More men are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer than women. Sometimes, people with pancreatic cancer do not show any of these symptoms. Doctors often refer to pancreatic cancer as a silent disease because it usually does not cause any symptoms in the beginning. As the cancer grows, symptoms may include Yellow skin and eyes, darkening of the urine, itching and clay-colored stool, which are signs of obstructive jaundice that may occur during the early stage of the disease, pain in upper abdomen or upper back, burning feeling in stomach or other gastrointestinal discomforts, floating stools with a particularly bad odor, due to malabsorption of fats, weakness, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, weight loss with no known explanation. The treatment of pancreatic cancer depends on the size and location of the tumor, whether the cancer has spread, and the person's overall health.

It Might Be Small But The Prostate Gland Can Be Deadly

The vast majority of men will suffer from prostate problems at some stage during their lives and all too many men will die from prostate cancer. Indeed, with the sole exception of skin cancer, prostate cancer kills more men than any other form of cancer. It may come as something of a surprise to learn therefore that, although things are beginning to change slowly, most men have little or no idea about just what this very important part of our anatomy does.

The prostate gland is located in the lower abdomen and sits just below the bladder and between the pubic bone and the rectum. A healthy prostate is roughly the size of a walnut and weighs about one ounce in a fully grown man. One important point to note is that the prostate gland is shaped something like a donut and partially surrounds the urethra, which is the tube that carries urine from the bladder to the penis and on out of the body.

The prostate gland has a very important role to play as one part of the male reproductive system. Attached to the prostate are a number of seminal vesicles which produce a protein and this is then mixed with a clear liquid produced by the prostate, and referred to as prostatic fluid, to form the male semen. Sperm produced in the testes are carried through connecting tubes to the prostate and are then mixed with the seminal fluid before being ejaculated during orgasm through ejaculatory ducts which are connected to the urethra.

The prostate gland grows rapidly during puberty and is essentially fully formed in most men by about the age of twenty five. However, at this stage it does not stop growing as you might imagine but continues growing very slowly throughout the remainder of your life. Later in life however, and typically at some point after the age of about forty-five, hormonal changes which are part of the normal ageing process can result in a slight 'speeding up' in the growth of the prostate gland.

As a result, once you pass the age of forty-five you begin to run the risk of your now enlarging prostate beginning to cause a series of problems. For most men sufficient enlargement to cause symptoms does not occur until after the age of sixty and some men will never experience a problem at all. Nevertheless, all men are at risk of developing problems after the age of about forty-five.

The first signs of a problem are normally seen when urinating as, because the prostate gland partially surrounds the urethra, its enlargement slowly starts to pinch and thus narrow the urethra interfering with the free flow of urine out of the body. As the prostate continues to grow and enlarge further so it squeezes more and more on the urethra and urinary problems worsen over time.

This enlargement is simply a normal part of the ageing process and for most men the problems which it causes are nothing more than a nuisance and do not require treatment. For other men however urinary problems will become sufficiently annoying to warrant treatment and there are several treatment options available today. Overall though this problem is really nothing to worry about and is certainly not a life-threatening condition.

The real problem however lies in the fact that, alongside this normal growth, you may well also be developing prostate cancer and one reason why this remains such a killer today is that most men are unaware of a developing cancer and simply put any symptoms down to normal prostate enlargement.

Unfortunately there is no way to tell whether or not you have a developing prostate cancer without being medically tested for the condition and so, prostate problems should never simply be ignored and, at the first sign of any difficulty, you should consult your physician.

7 Alternatives Therapies For An Enlarged Prostate

If you are suffering from an enlarged prostate gland then your first port of call must be your doctor so that you can be sure that this is a simple case of benign prostatic hypertrophy and nothing more. Once you have a firm diagnosis there are then a number of treatment options open to you and here we look at seven common forms of alternative therapy.

1. Ayurveda. Two popular treatments are to mix Punarnava, Gokshura and Shilajit herbal powders together and then to take just one quarter of a teaspoon each day mixed into a little warm water. Alternatively, you could try horsetail, ginseng or hibiscus tea and these can be taken three or four times a day.

2. Reflexology. Reflexology sessions, which direct energy to specific pressure points on the body, begin with relaxing your whole body and then shifting the focus of the reflex to those areas of your body which are in the greatest need of assistance. In this case that means directing energy to the prostate, adrenal, endocrine, pituitary, parathyroid and thyroid glands as well as to the pancreas with the reflex in your hands or feet.

3. Food Therapy. A diet which is high in zinc has been shown to be beneficial in shrinking an enlarged prostate and so food therapy essentially means following a low fat diet (especially avoiding saturated fats) and including foods which are known to be high is zinc such as flaxseed oil, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. You can also take a daily zinc supplement.

4. Imagery. Imagery is closely linked to hypnosis and both use positive visualization techniques to effect positive change. One exercise which has been shown to be beneficial to some enlarged prostate sufferers is to close your eyes, breathe out three times and then imagine entering into your body. Once inside, find your prostate gland and slowly examine it from every angle before putting it into a thin golden drawstring net and pulling the drawstring so that the net fits snuggly around the prostate. At the same time picture your prostate gland shrinking back to its normal size. This exercise should be practiced twice each day for about three or four minutes for three weeks and then left for one week, before repeating the process over about six months.

5. Hydrotherapy. For many enlarged prostate sufferers a daily hot bath taken for about a month does the trick. Simply sit in a hot bath with water up to your navel for thirty to forty-five minutes and then follow this immediately with a cold bath or shower.

6. Vitamin and Mineral Therapy. Herbal medication containing a specific mix of vitamins and minerals can also help with the treatment of an enlarged prostate. The vitamin and mineral mix, which is taken twice a day, should contain 200 international units of vitamin E, 30 milligrams of zinc, 1 milligram of copper, half a tablespoon of flaxseed oil and 160 milligrams of saw palmetto.

7. Yoga. Some Yoga poses can increase the blood flow to your groin and so relieve certain prostate problems. Two poses in particular which will benefit prostate problems are the 'knee squeeze' and the 'seated sun' together with the 'stomach lock'. If you are not familiar with yoga then there are many excellent illustrated books available and you should be able to pick one or two up at your local library without any problem. You should be aware however that it is not advisable to practice the 'stomach lock' if you are suffering from hypertension, hiatal hernia, ulcers or heart disease.

For many people these alternative techniques seem on the surface to be of little if any value at all, but for anyone who is familiar with alternative medicine, or such things as ancient Chinese medical practices, it is no surprise to find that they really can work.

ProstateProblemCenter.com provides information on a variety of prostate problems and covers topics such as enlarged prostate treatment and the therapeutic technique of milking the prostate gland.

What Does Surgery For Localized Prostate Cancer Involve?

The normal approach for surgery in the case of localized prostate cancer is to remove the entire prostate gland and surrounding tissue in an operation known as a radical prostatectomy. The operation is usually performed as a retropubic prostatectomy, in which access is achieved through the lower abdomen, or a perineal prostatectomy, in which access is gained through the perineum which lies between the scrotum and the anus.

During a radical prostatectomy the prostate gland is removed, together with the seminal vesicles, the ampullae (the lower sections of the tubes which carry sperm from the testicles to the prostate gland) and some other adjoining tissue. In addition, that part of the urethra which passes through the prostate gland, as well as the neck of the bladder and a part of the sphincter muscle that controls urine flow is also removed.

From this you will see that a radical prostatectomy is not minor surgery, but is a demanding procedure which generally lasts anywhere from about 2 to 4 hours. It is also an operation which generally requires a stay in hospital of about 3 days followed by 10 days to 2 weeks at home during which time you will need to use a catheter to drain urine.

In the past a radical prostatectomy almost always resulted in impotence, but today improvements in surgical techniques and the introduction of what is known as 'nerve sparing' surgery means that an increasing number of men are now spared from impotence. When nerve sparing surgery is performed the two sets nerves and other vessels that run along the side of the prostate gland are carefully preserved in order to retain the erectile function. This technique is unfortunately not suitable in all cases of prostate cancer.

One of the commonest results of prostate surgery is a degree of incontinence. Almost all patients will experience some loss of control following their operation and this can vary from occasionally dribbling to a complete loss of urinary control. Fortunately, some men are suitable for further surgery to ease this problem and it is sometimes possible to surgically implant an artificial urinary sphincter or to use collagen injections to narrow the opening of the bladder.

Some men will also suffer muscle damage during surgery leading to fecal incontinence, which is essentially a problem caused by a reduction in the elasticity of the rectum. This too can be corrected surgically in some cases. Radiation therapy can also sometimes be used to stiffen the rectal muscles.

Of course surgery is just one of the treatments available for localized prostate cancer today and, while many men favor it because it involves the immediate and complete removal of cancer cells from the body, you should not automatically assume that this is the best treatment for you. Take some time to look at all of your options and discuss each with your physician before coming to any decision.

What Does Radiation Therapy For Localized Prostate Cancer Involve?

One common form of treatment today for localized prostate cancer is radiation therapy which uses high energy x-rays to kill cancer cells. These x-rays can either be delivered using an external radiation beam or by implanting radiation 'seeds' into the prostate gland.

External beam radiation therapy treatments are normally given on a daily basis 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) for anything up to about 6 or 7 weeks and each treatment, which is painless, lasts for just a few minutes. (Such treatments are also commonly given to patients whose cancer is no longer localized to the prostate gland but has spread into the pelvis and can also be used to relieve pain and reduce tumors in cases of advanced prostate cancer.)

In cases where tumors are large it is also common to give hormone treatment alongside radiation therapy in order to block the action of the male hormones which feed the growth of prostate cancer tumors. Such hormonal treatments are often continued for many months, or even years.

External beam radiation targets not only the prostate gland but also the seminal vesicles, to which prostate cancer can readily spread. In previous forms of this treatment it was also common to irradiate the pelvic lymph nodes but today this is only done in a minority of cases where evidence suggests that this is necessary.

There are generally few immediate side-effects to external beam radiation other than fatigue and possibly diarrhea when radiation is applied to the rectum, but both of these soon pass once treatment is completed.

Longer-term affects include impotence which affects about 40% to 50% of patients. This figure is however declining with the introduction of computer technology which now allows treatment to be tailored precisely to the anatomy of the patient with far more precise targeting than has previously been possible.

Turning to internal radiation therapy, this is a procedure in which dozens of tiny seeds are implanted directly into the prostate gland to deliver a high dose of radiation directly into the affected tissue.

Ultrasound is used to guide very thin needles from the perineum into the prostate gland to deposit the tiny seeds of palladium and iodine in a pattern which has previously been mapped using a very sophisticated computer program. The procedure, which usually takes about an hour, is carried out under local anesthetic and the patient is normally allowed home the same day. One alternative approach is to use more powerful temporary seed implants which are introduced over several days and possibly to combine this with low dose external radiation therapy. This procedure does however require hospitalization.

Internal radiation therapy carries few side-effects and normally leads to impotence in less that 15% of patients under the age of 70. It is not however suitable for everybody, especially men with large tumors or those who have undergone a transurethral resection of the prostate for benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Winning the battle against cancer

Almost 260,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed in the UK each year, but despite the rates of incidence being on the rise, the good news is that less people are actually dying from cancer, thanks to advances in treatment and also early detection.

The trend is the same in both the USA and UK, with figures that trace incidence of and deaths caused by cancer over a period of 30 years from 1975 to 2005 showing that mortality rates for all cancers have decreased steadily over the last ten years, with stomach and prostate cancer displaying the most improvement in terms of people overcoming this deadly disease.

However, it’s not all good news on the mortality front. Deaths from cancers of the kidney, liver and uterus are on the rise, as is mortality from malignant melanoma, especially amongst males.

Education, increased funding and the acceptance from males to visit the doctor at the first sign of any health problems (rather than grinning and bearing it until it’s too late) are helping to decrease the mortality rate, especially with diseases such as prostate cancer.

However, lung cancer claims more female victims than any other cancer, including breast cancer, and the number of victims is rising. Deaths amongst women from lung cancer were recorded at 30 per 100,000 in 2005, compared to 18 per 100,000 women in 1971. Amongst men there has been a dramatic reduction in the number of deaths caused by lung cancer over the same period. In 1971 it accounted for 107 deaths per 100,000 but in 2005 was just less than half that figure at 53 deaths per 100,000 men in the population.

The overall drop in mortality amongst men is thought to be because of the reduction in tobacco consumption, as warnings about the links between smoking and lung cancer were identified towards the end of the twentieth century. The rise in the number of cases amongst women can be attributed to the uptake in smoking by females at the beginning of the 1980s. Since 1986 young women have consistently smoked more than young men, impacting on future mortality rates.

Although death rates from cancer are on the decline in general, there is a need for more education as people continue to put themselves at risk by indulging in excessive consumption of cigarettes and alcohol, even though both substances have been proved to increase the risk of contracting certain cancers. As well as extensive documentation available from the NHS and government sources, cancer charity organisations are also working hard to deliver messages about avoidance of cancer risks.

Understanding the Stages of Alzheimers Disease

As a caregiver the more that you understand about the stages of Alzheimer's Disease the better care you can provide for your patient or family member. During the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease most people will be able to lead lives that are productive and full. As the disease progresses from one stage to another more symptoms will start to become evident to the patient and to those people around the patient. These changes can not be controlled by the patient or by you, the caregiver.

Damage has been done to the brain which can’t be reversed or repaired. Over an undetermined period of time the patient’s dementia will become worse and this means that you’ll have to adapt the care that you provide to each changing condition. Every Alzheimer's patient will experience different symptoms during the different stages of the disease.

Alzheimer's Disease will typically affect adults who are over the age of sixty although there are many instances where younger people have been affected. There are four stages of the disease: the first stage, the middle stage, the later stage, and the final stage. During the first stage of Alzheimer's Disease the symptoms will be mild and often difficult to detect. Some of the typical things to look for include disorientation, forgetfulness, and mood changes that are unexplained. Some people will lose interest in activities that they once enjoyed and they may start so spend more time on their own.

During the middle stage of Alzheimer's Disease there will be more incidences of memory problems. Some people will start to show some difficulty with their language skills. Making decisions will become difficult, in particular decisions that require logic. Sleep problems may also start to appear, with the patient sleeping less and less hours. Most patients will require 24 hour supervision so that they don’t wander off and get lost.

The later stage of Alzheimer's Disease will show an increasing severity in the above symptoms. Patients often start to confuse the present with the past. They may forget the names and faces of the people closest to them. This memory loss extends to places and events.

Patients in this stage of the disease will be totally dependent on you as their caregiver and will need help with even the most routine of activities. Many patients will be confined to their bed and will stop talking altogether because they no longer have language skills.

The final stages of Alzheimer's Disease can be very devastating. Other medical conditions can set in, which can make Alzheimer's Disease even more difficult to manage. The final stage of this disease often results in the death of the patient.

Heart disease is the Leading Cause of Fatalities in Women

Although women are less prone to heart disease as compared with men, it must be known that heart disease is the leading cause of death for women today. The risk is in fact higher for women for certain profile of the population. For example, women smokers are several times more prone to heart disease than male smokers.

Heart diseases are caused by many different factors. For example old age, obesity, smoking, high blood pressure, diabetic and a sedentary lifestyle can cause heart disease to develop. In addition, menopause in women can also causes heart disease.

Understanding the causes of heart disease is the important first step toward prevention of the disease. Prevention of the disease after all is much better than cure. In this regard, people at risk of heart disease should have regular check-ups and also stick to the instructions by their doctors.

Knowing the causes of heart disease will help you in taking preventive measures such as reducing the level of cholesterol, keeping to a healthy body weight, eating healthy foods and exercise regularly. A change in lifestyle and diet will go a long way in removing many of the causes of heart disease. If you feel that you are at risk of develop heart disease, consult a doctor as soon as possible. Early and proper treatment will prevent more serious conditions from developing. Although heart disease is basically unavoidable, there are certain things that you can do to prevent it, for example, maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly. By keeping yourself healthy, you will not only prevent heart disease; you will also be better prepared to deal with many other ailments and health conditions.

It is important to understand that heart attack is triggered by two different factors. The first is the pathological buildup of abnormal plaque in the arteries, plaque that gradually hardens through calcification. The other factor involves the blood clotting that blocks blood flow to the heart. One of the latest theories on coronary artery disease is that it is an inflammatory process, which is characterized by repeated cycles of irritation, injury and healing of the blood vessels.

The Problem of Late Diagnosis

Doctors today are better equipped to diagnose and treat heart disease in women. However, in many cases, the diagnosis is made very late such that effective treatment is not possible. Often, a diagnosis of women coronary heart disease is made after a stroke or a heart attack. Often, the contributing factors to heart disease in women are due to cigarette smoking, high cholesterol level, high blood pressure, lack of exercise, obesity and even suffering from diabetes.

A woman who actively sough to eliminate these risk factors will have a better chance of survival as well as not being struck down by the many potential heart diseases. It may mean having to change one lifestyle for the better.

Heart disease in women can also be caused by age, effect of menopause and heredity. Thus, women need to know the risk factors that cause heart diseases, negate their effects and avoid aggravating any existing condition.

Women can take active measures such as taking vitamins and certain medications. Medications that can help prevent heart disease includes Sytrinol, Potassium and also M.S.M. Sytrinol has been found to be effective in keeping the cholesterol levels normal by reducing triglycerides as well as low low-density lipoprotein levels. M.S.M. also can develop protein and keep the connective tissues strong.

For more information regarding heart disease and heart disease in women, you should consult your doctor to discuss the possible treatment and preventive methods, especially if you have existing high risk factors. All is not lost if you have already developed a heart disease. The range of treatment options available today, from pills to minimally invasive surgeries, means that prognosis is much better than in the past. The only thing to add to tip the balance in your favor would be a positive attitude and living as healthy a lifestyle as possible. Stay fit with regular exercise and a proper diet. Seek the support of family and friends, or even specialized non-profit organizations, to steady and toughen your mental resilience. All these will help to combat the effects of heart disease.

StemEnhance Facts - A FAQ on StemEnhance

StemTech Health Sciences was founded in 2005 in order to bring a new breakthrough product technology to the marketplace. This Product is called StemEnhance and is the beginnings of a natural, phytoceutical dietary supplement started as a conceptual theory in the mind of a research scientist at the turn of the century. The following article was created to provide specific information on StemEnhance. Read the FAQ and judge for yourself.

What is StemEnhance?

StemEnhance is a blend of two compounds extracted from the widely consumed aquatic botanical Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (AFA). One extract, which contains an L-selectin ligand, supports the natural release of stem cells (CD34+ cells) from the bone marrow. The other extract, a polysaccharide-rich fraction named Migratose™, may support the migration of stem cells out of the blood into tissues.

What is the science behind StemEnhance?

The effect of StemEnhance on stem cells was tested in a triple-blind study. In brief, volunteers rested for one hour before the first blood sample, which established the baseline level in the number of circulating stem cells. After the first blood samples, volunteers were given StemEnhance™ or placebo.

Thereafter, blood samples were taken at 30, 60 and 120 minutes after taking the consumables. The number of circulating stem cells was quantified by analyzing the blood samples using Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorting (FACS). Consumption of StemEnhance™ triggered a significant 25% increase in the number of circulating stem cells.

What is the recommended dose of StemEnhance?

One gram of StemEnhance™ triggers a significant 25-35% increase in the number of circulating stem cells. The effect lasts for a few hours. The recommended dosage is therefore 2 capsules once or twice day, at least 6 hours apart.

Can StemEnhance deplete the bone marrow? Do we have a finite number of stem cells?

No, StemEnhance will not deplete the bone marrow. The bone marrow constantly produces stem cells for the entire life of an individual. Stem cells released by the bone marrow are responsible for the constant renewal of red blood cells and lymphocytes (immune cells).

A 25-30% increase in the number of circulating stem cells is well within physiological range and does not constitute stress on the bone marrow environment. The amount of active bone marrow amounts to about 2,600 g (5.7 lbs), with about 1.5 trillion marrow cells. A 25-30% increase in the number of circulating cells triggered by the consumption of 1 gram of StemEnhance™ corresponds to approximately 3 million cells, which is a small portion of the cells present in the bone marrow. Stem cells that do not reach any tissue or become blood cells return to the bone marrow.

What happened to stem cells if they do not reach a tissue?

Stem cells released from the bone marrow that do not reach a tissue simply home back to the bone marrow after some time.

Can stem cells lead to aberrations such as cancer?

Only embryonic stem cells have been associated with the development of aberrant growth. Stem cells present in specialized tissues such as the intestinal mucosa may also play a role in the development of aberrant growth. But the cells released from the bone have not been associated with such problems.

Why may StemEnhance be contraindicated for people on anticoagulant therapy?

One gram of StemEnhance contains roughly half of the recommended daily allowance in vitamin K. Vitamin K is an essential nutrient playing an important role in the process of blood coagulation. Hence, doctors often tell people to avoid vitamin K while being on anticoagulant therapy. This being said, it is not so much the presence of vitamin K in the diet as much as the consistency in the daily intake. Therefore, the best approach is to discuss with your doctor your desire to take StemEnhance, that it contains vitamin K, and the anticoagulant prescription can be adjusted through careful monitoring of your condition by your doctor.

Is StemEnhance FDA approved?

No. FDA does not approve dietary supplements in the same way that FDA approves some drugs and medical devices. Nonetheless, FDA does regulate product quality, product safety, and product claims, and has authority to remove products from the market that are not safe or that make claims that are not substantiated by scientific evidence.

Is StemEnhance truly natural? Organic? Non-genetically modified? Farmed?

StemEnhance is made of two extracts from the aquatic botanicals Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (AFA). AFA grows naturally in a pristine lake of Southern Oregon, it is therefore wildcrafted, not farmed or manipulated in anyway, hence no genetic modification.

StemEnhance is produced by an Organic certified facility and is certified Organic.

Smoking Is Very Bad For Your Health

By now, we all know that smoking is bad for us. Can there possibly be anyone left in the modern world that doesn't know about this? The things people are finding more and more is that there are fewer places for them to smoke. There should be more places banned from the curse of smoking. Smoking not only causes cancer, it may also accelerate the growth of existing cancers. Nicotine in cigarette smoke could stimulate the production of a molecule which can make lung cancer cells more aggressive and encourages them to carve up and nurture. Smoking may boost the growth of existing tumors as well as triggering cancer. It won't be long before the government outlaws smoking in your own car, which is equivalent to that more people every year will be looking for easier ways to quit smoking, because anyone who has ever tried to quit, knows how hard it really is...

Smoking causes cancer. We've all heard that. Everyone knows that lung cancer is one of the most devastating side effects of smoking. However, what is less known is that it puts smokers at risk of many other types of cancers as well, for example, mouth cancer, cancer of the larynx (voice box), bladder, pancreas and cervix among several others.

Smoking dramatically raises the risk of lung disease such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. These diseases are also known as COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). They are progressive in nature and can eventually be life threatening. The likelihood of smokers dying from heart attacks is twice that of non-smokers. It causes peripheral vascular disease, where blood vessels that carry blood to the leg and arm muscles are constricted. If you are thirty and a chain smoker, then it should be no surprise that you have premature wrinkles. Moreover, smoking also makes your breath and clothes smell bad, and give you yellow fingernails.

Women smokers are at a higher risk of having a miscarriage or a baby with lower birth weight. Women over 35, who take the 'pill' risk heart attack, stroke and blood clots in the legs. During the early stages of withdrawal, time seems to drag endlessly. The first few weeks are interminable. It is important not to let this overshadow the greater purpose and really keep going with a positive attitude. One may experience an unbearable craving to grab a cigarette. During such an episode, it helps to take a look at the clock and actually time the duration of the 'attack'. It will likely last no longer that 3 minutes, although it may seem endless - this helps to gain perspective. Nicotine is a powerful stimulant. Our body needs time and a great deal of effort to learn to live without it. It is natural to feel tired, drained out and fatigued during the first few days.

Normal sleep patterns get disrupted during withdrawal. One might find oneself sleeping comparatively less. It takes a couple of weeks for regular sleep patters to establish. Other common symptoms of physical withdrawal are tightness in the chest, slight sore throat, coughing with mucus, bad breath and headaches. Prostate cancer carried the most increased risk for metastatic disease, while head and neck, prostate and breast cancers were all more likely to be associated with regional disease among smokers.

All About Prostate Cancer

Cancer can occur in any part of the body - lungs, intestine, rectum, breast or prostate. Prostate cancer develops as a malignant tumor that starts in the prostate gland. There is a possibility of the cancer spreading from the prostate to the lymph nodes, other organs or bones through metastasis.

This is the second most common type of cancer in men, which can lead to death. However, with the improvement of medicine, survival rates in patients have improved considerably. The cause of prostate cancer has never been found out, however, there are some risk factors that induce prostate cancer.

It has been found out that with the increase of age, the risk of prostate cancer tends to increase. Having family members with prostate cancer increases the risk of developing prostate cancer. Statistics show that African-American men have a higher risk of prostate cancer than Caucasian men. And of course, obese men are more prone to prostate cancer.

There are no specific symptoms for prostate cancer; however as it grows, men tend to suffer from pain in the lower back, upper thighs and pelvis. Other symptoms of advanced prostate cancer are complications in urinating like increase in frequency, interrupted flow, finding it difficult to stop or start urinating, presence of blood in the urine and the presence of pain and burning sensation.

It is suggested that men over the age of 50, have to take a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test every year, along with a Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) to find out the presence of prostate cancer. In a DRE, the physician tests for an enlarged prostate, lumps or any abnormal texture by inserting a lubricated and gloved finger into the rectum.

The prostate cells produce PSA, and with the PSA test, its level in the blood stream is determined. Men having PSA levels higher than 4ng/mL have a higher chance of prostate cancer. However, sometimes men with low PSA levels may contract prostate cancer; it all depends on the normal PSA level of a man. If it was always on the higher side, then there is not much to worry; this is why it is better to keep track of PSA levels. It is also possible to diagnose prostate cancer through transrectal ultrasound and biopsies. It is through a biopsy that prostate cancer is correctly diagnosed.

The doctor suggests treatment for prostate cancer depending on its severity. It can be surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy or watchful waiting. Through hormonal therapy, the effect of male hormones like testosterone is blocked to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. However, this is not a cure; it just controls the disease.

With the surgical treatment, prostate glands and surrounding lymph glands are removed, depending on the severity of the condition. However this may cause hot flashes, loss of interest in sex, impotence and other problems in the patient. Sometimes, radiation is suggested where x-rays are passed through an external machine or through radioactive isotopes inside the body. The doctor may also suggest chemotherapy where the patient is prescribed medication that is administered either orally or through injections.

However, since prostate cancer attacks older men, they are usually advised watchful waiting. This is best if the tumor is small, is expected a low growth rate or when medical treatment proves to be rather risky and may lead to death. The patient has to be monitored frequently with this treatment, but no treatment is administered.

How To Help During Cancer Treatment

Having a family member, friend or co-worker battle against cancer is one of the hardest and worst realities in life. No one likes to help someone deal with cancer, but at some point almost all of us will have the opportunity to walk beside someone we care about through one of the most difficult times of their life: cancer treatment.

I have had the privilege (and I do mean privilege) of helping out both of my parents and one of my closest friends during their weeks and months of cancer treatments. At first I was quite intimidated and unsure of how to help in such serious and life-threatening situations. I thought because I didn't know the perfect things to do that I couldn't do anything at all. Was I wrong.

Some of the best ways to help out a friend or loved one as their undergo cancer treatment is in the most practical ways. Don't look past how helpful cleaning their bathrooms, doing their dishes, or collecting their garbage can be. It is an amazing thing to get down and dirty on behalf of someone else. Look around and simply see what needs to be done. Mow their lawn, plant some fresh flowers, or get their car cleaned on the inside and out.

Taking care of the family of the one getting cancer treatment is one of the most helpful things you can do, especially when there are children involved. Offer to take the children to school and pick them up, or invite the kids over to your house for frequent sleepovers during the cancer treatment. It will be good for the parents and good for the kids to be separated during such a hard time. Involve the kids in doing something special for their parent who is in cancer treatment. Take the kids to a boutique that allows you to paint your own pottery, for example. Help the kids make something memorable for their loved one. You can do simple things for the family of someone who is in cancer treatment like go grocery shopping, prepare meals or take their family out to special meals.

Far too often people think that helping out during a time of crisis such as cancer treatment that they have to do extraordinary things. The truth is that it is the ordinary things that need to happen long before anything else will be helpful. There is no doubt that dealing with cancer or undergoing cancer treatment is extremely hard. But the support and help of friends and families can make even the worst things in life better.

Lifestyle And Cancer

New reviews and research suggest that excess weight coupled with poor diet is the main cause of cancer. Almost 1/3rd of eight odd million cancer deaths a year around the world are as a result of lifestyle and environmental factors. Good habits may not rectify bad genes but they can counter their effects.

The main risk factors that account for more than 35% of cancer deaths are Smoking, no physical activity, alcohol, diets void of fruits and vegetables, obesity, alcohol, pollution, unsafe sex and reused needles.

Smoking, alcohol abuse and diet that contains too few or no fruits and vegetables are the front running and controllable risks for about a dozen kinds of cancers.

The rate of cancer deaths is more in developed countries despite having lesser population. The reasons for this are attributed to use of alcohol in abundance, smoking and obesity, mostly male issues. Females are nevertheless not far behind, and are catching up.

Smoking is known to cause lung cancer for donkey’s ears. Despite the statutory warnings on the packs, people at large seem to carry on with the habit, being fully aware of the consequences. Changing their lifestyle to reduce risk is a very important decision they should make especially when the perspective turns to their family and their support. Losing that excess weight and a little exercise can keep cancer at bay. Moreover, this can greatly help in fighting other diseases and improves the quality of life. Obesity has also been associated with depression for a long time. Developing a positive attitude will greatly benefit a person physically and psychologically. Beer and wine have proven to help protect the heart in moderate quantities but no proven benefits are observed against cancer. But, where does the need to protect the heart arise from, once you have that positive attitude and take things as they come one at a time, there is not reason why alcohol consumption on a regular basis cannot be avoided.

Changing your lifestyle, considering the above suggestions would go a great way in reducing the risk of cancer. Why suffer knowingly? The symptoms become evident much before the disease itself. Make sure you take the right steps in the positive direction.

A perfect remedy for Cancer

According to latest research, all life is energy.

Every nerve impulse in your body is an electric current.

Every cell in your body is a mini-battery pumping out 70-90 millivolts - when healthy.

Our muscles are powered by chemical energy. The steak and potatoes that you eat for dinner are really just fuel for the fire. Eating is like throwing coal in a furnace. Digestion is nothing more than a slow form of burning that produces energy for your body to live on. In fact, death itself is defined as the absence of electrical activity in the brain. In the end, all life is energy.

Place a glass of wine under your Pyramid and another glass in a separate room. Wait 30 to 60 Minutes and see if you can taste any difference in the two. In some cases, you may even begin to see some slight bubbling in the glass, under the Pyramid. As it has actually been known to re-stimulate the fermentation process. This is one way you can turn cheaper wine to more expensive tasting wine.

After being under a Pyramid for a short time, you will:

* Have More energy

* Feel healthier

* Find inner peace

* Feel more relaxed and calm

* Focus more

A pyramid has unique healing properties.

People whose body cannot eliminate toxins or who are stressed by external factors are the most likely to get cured with this remedy. They should drink pyramid water in case of asthenia, constipation, skin problems, assimilation disorders, slow appetite, or digestion problems (colitis, etc.).

The phenomenon is real. Most of the natural process developing into living bodies are more intensive and harmonious when they enter into the magnetic field of a pyramid.

The pyramid must be built up according to the proportions of the famous pyramid of Cheops. The main influence occurs when we place bodies inside the pyramid, at one third of the base and two thirds of the top.

Not only living bodies, but also matter receive important properties when introduced inside the pyramid. Water kept inside the pyramid becomes more pure (micro-biologic).

You may keep it there for a long time, for it stimulates people growing up, plants growing bigger, or it cures a lot of diseases. But it is not a real panacea. It actually does not only influence the regression of certain illnesses, but it is also good for the entire body. It stimulates it to defend all by itself.

Amongst the most serious illnesses there are: cancer, chronic infectious diseases, etc. In order to obtain pyramid water, we need to built up the pyramid according to the proportions of that famous Egyptian pyramid. Use copper wire to build it up.

The bigger the pyramid is, the bigger its influence. The biggest pyramid ever build in Romania is in Pitesti. It is used to render water pure (to filter it). Keep the water in china or glass pots.

In order to fill it with energy, keep the water inside the pyramid for 12 hours (or 24, according to some authors). Keep water there for more than 24 hours. It may be boiled water, mineral water or any kind or simple water.

If you have some plant products and want to fill them with energy, you should put them inside the pyramid but only after you enabled that process.

A pyramid or pyramid like structure is a natural psychic amplifier; any mental energy put into it will be amplified and sent out.

Moreover, by using and sitting under a pyramid, we get a powerful beam of Universal Energy, And, this Cosmic or Universal Energy is a perfect natural remedy for Cancer.

Breast Cancer Symptoms And Warning Signs

Having breast cancer is no longer the death sentence that it used to be. The medical profession has made some amazing strides in breast cancer detection and treatment options. However, the key to having the best chance of survival is early detection. That is why every woman owes it to herself and needs to educate herself on the five most common warning signs of breast cancer.

The most common sign of breast cancer is noticing a lump in the breast or a thickening of the breast. Breast lumps can often be just fatty tissue and not cancerous, but that is the first sign that normally sends people to go see their doctor to have a thorough examination. The five warning signs of breast cancer are:

* Any change to the shape, size or contour of your breast * Flattening of the breast or indentations in your skin surrounding your breast * Clear or bloody discharge from the breast nipple, with or without the presence of a lump * Indentation or retraction of your nipple * Pitting of the breast skin or redness in the skin over the breast

While these symptoms may not always point to breast cancer, it is incumbent upon every woman to seek medical advice whenever any of the above conditions are noticed. In some cases, your doctor may ask you to have a sonogram of the breast to ascertain if there are any cysts or unusual areas on the mammogram that need further inspection. Mammograms are by far the most effective method for early detection and treatment of breast cancer.

It's recommended that you have an annual mammogram if you're over the age of 40, or if you have a history of breast cancer in your family. You should also consult with a health care professional to help determine how frequently you should have a mammogram as well.

The first stage can be named as stage 0 - in this stage no signs of development of cancer cells can be seen. In this stage no movement or invading of the healthy cells by cancer cells can be seen. The second stage is named as stage

1 - in this stage movement or invading of the healthy cells by cancer cells can be seen. At this stage the size of the tumor is not more than 2 centimeters and no affect on lymph nodes can be seen at this stage. The next stage is stage

2 - this stage shows up the invasive breast cancer. The size of the tumor at this stage is more than 2 centimeters. At this stage cancer starts affecting the lymph nodes of the arm pit of same side. This stage is not an advanced stage as the lymph nodes are still away from one another and also the surrounding tissues.

One prevention method is known as chemoprevention. Essentially, this is the use of drugs. For breast cancer in particular selective estrogen receptor modulator is used. What this drug does is block estrogen absorption in the receptors, which causes any cancer cells to stop growing.

One drug that is approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and has been proven to decrease lumps and cysts and can be used in both early and later stages of breast cancer. Side effects can include weight gain and increased uterine cancer risk.

Your care giver or doctor use to keep gap between courses of treatment that can help to recover your body. Treatment can be given in clinic, at hospital or at home as well but in some type of chemotherapy you need to stay in hospital overnight.

Lung Cancer And Your Job

Industrialization crept in tight and irate in the 1700s and after that for about 100 existence the stone asbestos was considered to be a miracle which could be worn everywhere effectively and relatively cheaply. It became a must-have in all buildings as insulation and came to be used in all yield that could be manufactured. Nevertheless the belatedly 1800s saw asbestos causing lung canker in many who were exposed to it. Nevertheless like the outcome of most unpalatable hearsay this one too was ignored plow such time as the provision started receiving out of control and lastly around 1931 the British government took notice of the actuality the people exposed to asbestos were at a great peril for lung scourge and the United States followed this in the early 1970s. Unfortunately this action was too dead for those who had already been exposed and now faced the consequences of the disease.

Exposure to asbestos has resulted in the development of pleural plaques, asbestosis, lung scarring, lung blight and a particularly foul strain called mesothelioma. This strained is elite to asbestos and deals with the lining around the lungs called the pleura. It could reach a character even after a passing exposure 10 or 20 existence ago. If the self is a smoker, then the hazard goes up 10 fold or more as compared to a non smoker who has maybe a venture 5 times better than someone who is not exposed to asbestos.

Diagnosis of lung cancers due to exposure to asbestos is carried out through a combination of processes like the checkup history, x-heat, MRIs, CAT bandanna samples, scans and biopsies. Those with steady exposure must get themselves checkered evenly to stick the snag in time as the incubation point is while 50 years. Early diagnosis plays its part here too as with all other cancers. Patients diagnosed with mesothelioma have a bad marker bang untaken as the survival speed is far from satisfactory. Some are even given as little as 8 to 10 weeks, but those who use a multi handling tactic have shown a 40% survival appraise for 5 years at slightest which is as good as that of other cancers. The most responsive medicine for mesothelioma has come to light as being a combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy but if the detection happens at a belatedly period, surgery may not be a decision that is open anymore.

Nevertheless the world of checkup examine does not snooze and there are advancements being made in the theme of chemotherapy even as we chat. February of 2004 saw the first medicine accepted by the FDA called Alimta fashioned by Eli Lilly. It was seen in the clinical trials that Alimta in combination with another drug called Cisplatin did a lot to better the life expectancy of the afflicted people. For those who know that overthrow is eminent a faith that their life can be extended by even a few months factory wonders and allows them the looseness to chance for a therapy.

Lung Cancer Prevention -- What You Can Do

It is estimated that the overall five-year survival rate from lung cancer is just 15%. Given this depressing statistic, it is obvious that lung cancer prevention should be of primary importance in dealing with this killer disease.

So what can you do to prevent lung cancer? Here are a few things you should guard against this disease.

* Avoid smoking / give up smoking * Minimize your exposure to second hand tobacco smoke * Eliminate exposure to radon, asbestos and other dangerous substances * Cut down exposure to pollution * Take steps to avoid falling prey to diseases like tuberculosis

Let's look at some of the above in more detail.

Smoking -- the big enemy
Smoking (and exposure to second hand tobacco smoke) is the number one cause of lung cancer by far. Those who have never smoked in their lives have a significantly lower risk of developing lung cancer than those who have smoked for at least some time. Also, the risk of contracting lung cancer goes down with time once you quit smoking.

Some research points out that the so-called low nicotine / low tar cigarettes do not really cut down the chances of getting lung cancer.

This goes contrary to all the advertising done by tobacco companies who are eager to push these "light" cigarettes on people as a "healthier" alternative to regular cigarettes.

Make no mistake about it -- the best path to lung cancer prevention is to give up smoking completely. Even better, avoid taking up this deadly habit in the first place. Your lungs, your body and your family will thank you for it.

Exposure to second-hand smoke is bad too
Second hand smoke is formally known as Environmental Tobacco Smoke or ETS. People who inhale second hand smoke are called passive smokers. And here is the shocker -- passive smoking can be even more dangerous than smoking a cigarette!

Why is this so? The reason is that tobacco smoke enters the lungs of passive smokers without any filtering at all. This makes it much more likely that passive smokers will develop lung cancer -- a bigger payload of dangerous carcinogens enters their lungs.

Many countries including America, Australia, the UK and others have sought to curb the menace of second hand smoke by banning smoking in public places like restaurants, buses, trains, aircrafts, etc. More and more countries around the world are taking similar steps. It is expected that these restrictions will gradually bring down the incidence of lung cancer (and many other health issues) from passive smoking.

Pollution can increase risks of cancer
Pollutants like automobile exhausts, industrial smoke, etc are known to cause several health problems. There is also some evidence that they may contribute to lung cancer. So part of your lung cancer prevention plan should be to minimize exposure to these pollutants.

Asbestos and radon exposure can lead to cancer
Both radon and asbestos are directly linked to lung cancer. They also cause other health issues. Use one of the radon detection kits available at hardware stores to measure the levels of radon in your home or office environment. If radon is present, enlist the services of an expert who can suggest corrective measures to get rid of the radon.

Similarly, it is a good idea to hire a licensed asbestos inspector to go over your home with a fine tooth comb to see if it contains any asbestos. If your home is asbestos-free he will issue a certificate stating this fact.

Taking sensible lung cancer prevention steps can go a long way towards ensuring that you remain free of this killer disease.

Lung Cancer Screening -- Do Chest X-Rays Help?

There is one indisputable fact about lung cancer -- the earlier the disease is detected, the better the chances of curing it. This is why lung cancer screening is of prime importance.

Doctors point out that although the overall survival rate for lung cancer at the five-year mark is only 15%, the survival rate for those whose cancer was detected early and could be surgically treated is as high as 80%. For this reason, some doctors recommend periodic lung cancer screening with chest x-rays.

Once this disease has progressed somewhat, it will spread rapidly to other areas of the lung and to critical organs all over the body. At that stage, surgery is no longer a viable treatment method.

Unfortunately, the early stages of lung cancer do not give rise to any alarming symptoms. Common symptoms include a persistent cough, a tendency to get respiratory illnesses, etc. These symptoms are not linked to lung cancer alone. This is why lung cancer is rarely diagnosed till it is too late.

In this context, regular screening for lung cancer -- at least for those who are most at risk of developing it, like smokers -- seems like a sensible choice. However, unlike in the case of many other diseases (including other cancers), there is no truly effective screening test available for lung cancer.

In most cases, lung cancer is detected when doing tests like chest x-rays for other health problems. Because of the risks involved, most doctors do not recommend chest x-rays as a routine screening procedure. Many believed (till recently) that chest x-rays can be fairly misleading when it comes to detecting cancer.

This conclusion was based on studies conducted during the 1970s. Those studies showed that chest x-rays were not effective at detecting dangerous, fast-spreading tumors at the earliest stages. Further, those who were detected with relatively slow-growing tumors had to undergo surgery and other treatments that were not really needed.

However, many things have changed since the time those studies were done. Today, x-rays are far more sensitive than they were back then. In addition, there is a battery of refined tests available that can be used to follow up on any problems detected with the x-ray. A new study is being conducted by the National Cancer Institute on a group of 150,000 healthy adults. This study, sponsored by the American government, divides these 150,000 people into two equal groups -- one group is screened annually with x-rays, while the other (forming the control group) does not receive such screening.

The preliminary results show that about doctors found something abnormal in almost 6,000 people. They were followed upon with CAT scans, more x-rays and other diagnostic tests. From among these people, 206 had biopsies done. Eventually, 126 people were diagnosed with cancer. This is only 2.1% of the original group of 6,000 with abnormalities in their x-rays.

The bad news is that the 6,000 represent a large number of false positives. It resulted in unnecessary follow up x-rays, CAT scans, etc. The good news is that out of those detected with cancer, fully 44% were at the earliest stages of the disease -- when the cancer is most treatable and the chances of survival highest.

The final results from this ongoing study will only be available some years from now. But based on the preliminary results, it appears that regular lung cancer screening with chest x-rays may help at early detection and a better cure-rate for this disease.

Adenocarcinoma Colon Cancer

One form of the colon cancer is Adenocarcinoma. This usually stems from the epithelium lining the large intestine. The function of the colon aka the large bowel is to absorb water from the stool and patients of adenocarcinoma colon cancer usually report excessively hard stool.

Although adenocarcinoma colon cancer is not uncommon, it is rarely found in young adults. The greater your age the higher the chances of your suffering from adenocarcinoma cancer and especially women aged over 50 years are supposed to be at the greatest risk from adenocarcinoma. Although adenocarcinoma colon is found all over the world, it is primarily found in places of low fiber diet which make America, Europe and Australia soft targets.

Adenocarcinoma colon cancer is usually found in people who have some heredity of adenomatous polyposis or even non-polyposis colorectal cancer especially if the family history is from first-degree relatives. Hereditary factors can be to an extent that adenocarcinoma colon may be found in persons as young as teenagers. Certain types of polyps have a potential for malignancy. People having a high fat yet low fiber diet especially with a high intake of red meat are the ones that are most likely to suffer from adenocarcinoma. Even obesity is a cause of adenocarcinoma colon.

Adenocarcinoma colon cancer is known to spread after invading the wall of the bowel. On crossing the muscular layer of the bowel's wall the tumor enters the lymphatic vessels and thereafter spreads to local as well as regional lymph nodes. Sometimes the tumor can also spread through the bloodstream to the liver and even other organs of the body including the lungs, bones and even the brain. In case a lot of the tumor has passed the bowel's wall then they float about the abdomen as small amounts of fluid and can seed the bowel's covering. Adenocarcinoma colon is known to produce small nodules within the abdomen to irritate tissues to cause the production of huge quantities of ascites. If adenocarcinoma colon is detected at a young stage then the prognosis can be really good as at early stages treatment via surgery is really easy and predictable. However once the muscular wall has been breached by the tumor, only three fifths of the total patients are able to survive another five years!

The treatment of choice for early adenocarcinoma colon cancer is surgery. For tumors that are still proceeding to reach the muscular layer within the bowel wall, this will be curative in more than 90% of cases. Colon cancer surgery is usually carried out to remove the primary tumor for all cancers except those that have spread to distant organs.

Experience Works to give Cancer a Clear Voice

Whatever stage you’re at in life, it’s always going to be devastating to find out you have a terminal illness. Not only does it highlight your own mortality, but being told you have an incurable condition also changes the way you approach life. It can be overwhelming, and without the right support can often lead to feelings of angst, fear and isolation.

Cancer is one such illness affecting millions of people globally. Appearing in many forms, such as breast, lung or bowel cancer, it not only affects those diagnosed, but also their families and friends.

The establishment of charities therefore, such as ones specifically designed to help those with cancer, have played a significant role in helping people to understand their condition, how to treat it and how they can still make the most of life. They have also been fundamental in providing emotional support when things become too much.

Individuals nowadays have access to a wealth of information, as well as a huge network of people who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, life with cancer. And, because everyone deals with issues in their own way, it is a great opportunity to learn how others positively cope and what they do to continue living as normally as possible.

Not only that, but fundraising activities and volunteers offering up their time have also helped charities to secure funds for vital research to be conducted, expensive equipment to be purchased and essential care for patients to be offered.

In order to improve the level of service cancer patients receive, a unique concept " cancer voices - was established in the UK in 2001 by cancer patients: it has since been adopted by cancer charities in Australia and New Zealand.

Cancer voices is essentially a network of people who have cancer, those who have recovered from cancer, carers and nurses of cancer patients, and friends or families who have been affected by cancer, through someone they have known.

And, because the people involved have experienced life with cancer, including the treatment and after-care received, they are an authority on whether things like the current cancer policy is effective, or if the environments used to treat patients are conducive to bettering one’s well-being.

Following training, which is provided free of charge, people have a real chance to help influence such things as: how cancer care is delivered; what drugs should be made available to patients; what services can or should be improved; and opinions on the available cancer information.

People are also encouraged to speak out about their experiences, in order to make the public aware of what they can do to help, or how individuals can cope with the illness. Cancer voices, therefore, is an opportunity for people who have been either directly or indirectly affected by cancer to help in the future of policy shaping and research into the disease.

The ultimate result is that people who develop cancer in the future benefit through the provision of better knowledge, services and care.

Isla Campbell writes on a number of topics on behalf of a digital marketing agency and a variety of clients. As such, this article is to be considered a professional piece with business interests in mind.

Lung Cancer -- A Look At The Numbers

It is a known fact that lung cancer is the second leading cause of death and the biggest cause of cancer deaths in both sexes in the West. It accounts for about 30% of all deaths from cancer.

The unfortunate reality is that many of those deaths could have been prevented -- fully 85% of all lung cancers are caused by smoking. This includes those who breathe in second-hand smoke from others in the vicinity. If everyone were to give up smoking, the incidence of lung cancer would drop dramatically.

After smoking, radon exposure is the second most common cause of lung cancer in America. The US Environmental Protection Agency estimates that about 21,000 deaths are caused every year by radon exposure.

Among various ethnic groups, the incidence of lung cancer is highest among African Americans. This is because of a high cultural propensity among this group to take up the smoking habit.

This is also one of the deadliest forms of cancer around. To give some comparative statistics, the five-year survival rate from colon cancer is 62% and that from breast cancer 87%. The corresponding figure for prostate cancer is 98%. In sharp contrast, the five-year survival rate for lung cancer is a low 15%.

One reason for this low survival rate is that lung cancer tends to be diagnosed at a very late stage in its cycle -- typically during stage 3 or stage 4. By that time, the cancer has spread to other parts of the body and has affected many vital organs. This significantly reduces the probability of survival.

There is a prevailing myth that a smoker's lungs will return to normal fifteen years after he stops smoking and at that point, his chances of developing lung cancer are the same as that for a non-smoker. The reality is that a smoker's lungs never become completely normal again. However, it is true that his chances of getting lung cancer drop off as time passes, although it probably never drops to the level of a person who has remained smoke-free all his life.

This is borne out by the fact that while existing smokers make up about 40% of all new cases of lung cancer, former smokers account for fully 50% of such cases.

Studies indicate that former smokers have about 9 times greater chances of dying from lung cancer as compared to those who never smoked. Current smokers are said to be 23 times more likely to die from this disease than people who never smoked.

The numbers are slightly lower for women -- former women smokers have 5 times the chances of dying from lung cancer when compared to never smokers. And current smokers are 13 times as likely to die of this illness.

It is obvious that prevention is the best policy when it comes to lung cancer. And the way to prevent this disease is to not smoke at all or at least, to give up smoking at the earliest.

Skin Cancer Treatment - What Are The Options

Everybody loves spending time outdoor on a hot summer day. Whether it is at the local swimming pool or just trying to get that perfect tan, too much sun is bad for your skin. If you are exposed to too much of the harmful ultraviolet sunrays, you can develop not only a really bad sunburn, but it may also lead to skin cancer.

Skin cancer is something most people don't even think about because they think that it won't ever happen to them, but the truth is that it can happen to anybody. The good thing about skin cancer is that the symptoms directly affect the skin so it is very easy to detect in the early stages. Seeking a proper skin cancer treatment at these early stages increases the prognosis of this disease.

There are several types of skin cancer treatment commonly used to treat skin cancer. Which treatment method used is dependent on where the cancer is and at what stages of its development. Most skin cancers can be effectively treated by the removal of the skin lesion and making sure that the edges of the lesion are free from tumor cells. This is probably the most effective treatment and cure for both the early and high-risk skin cancer patients. For a lot of low risk skin cancer patients, a mix of radiation therapy and cryotherapy (or freezing) will be used to treat and control this disease. The downside of this treatment method is that the curing rate is much lower than removal by the surgical method.

One common surgical treatment of skin cancer is a technique called the Moh's Microsurgery. This is a technique where the cancer is removed with the least amount of surrounding tissue and then the edges are immediately checked for any remaining traces of the tumor. This technique is good because it removes the least amount of healthy tissue and is ideal for people who have developed cancer in places where there are not much tissue to spare, for example, the face. The only limitation to this technique is that there are very few of these specialists available. You may have to spend some time locating such a specialist. If the disease begins to spread into other areas, other treatment like chemotherapy might have to be implemented.

Skin cancer is one of those diseases that is not only harmful to your health but is also not very good cosmetically. There are several treatments out there that are able to remove the cancerous lesions while still keeping your skin cosmetically appealing. However, in more serious cases, keeping healthy is more important than looking good.

If you suspect you may have contacted skin cancer, do consult your doctors immediately to seek medical advice on the best skin cancer treatment available to treat and control the disease. You can learn more about skin cancer treatment at www.cancer-tumor.info

Main Causes Of Lung Cancer

Lung progressed is a critical shape dilemma, it is essentially the advance of abnormal cells in the lungs.

This expansion of unhealthy cells can advantage wherever in the lungs.

Lung growths is actually the important grounds of growth deaths in both men and women. Of those people who shrink lung growth, minus than half of them subsist one year. The closer you spot symptom and have it diagnosed, the faster handling can start and the odds enlarge.

The leading begin of lung pest is smoking. Eighty seven percent of people who have lung evil have gotten it from smoking.

If the persona smokes a group a day, they have twenty epoch the venture of receiving lung menace or some other genuine shape hitch than a, someone who doesn't smoke at all.

There are so many carcinogens in tobacco smoke that they constantly spoil the vigorous cells of the lungs, and the hazard goes up for smokers depending on how long they have smoked and how much they have smoked.

There are other causes of lung canker for vigorous people who don't smoke

These causes compose asbestos, which worn to be used in structure equipment. It enters a healthy character's lungs by inhaling, and then attaches to the respiratory lining.

People who get lung scourge from asbestos exposure regularly get it from work or from living in an adult home.

Some doctors also think the women who are exposed to tobacco smoke, are more likely to have lung growth than men exposed to smoke. Researchers have found a gene called GRPR which causes curious group growth in people exposed to cigarette smoke. This gene is more active in women than in men and may describe why females are more level to lung blight.

Some explore has showed a diet low in fruit and vegetables may increase the chances of developing plague if exposed to tobacco smoke. Some mark shows fruit and vegetables may keep against lung menace.

The ultimate trigger of lung menace in healthy people is radon exposure.

Radon is a gas which is obviously released from soil and rocks. In congested places like caves, basements and other areas, it can become concentrated and start lung tumor or other strength problems. It is always a good idea to have a home tartan for radon levels because there are equipment that can be done to lower them to more acceptable levels.

The good rumor?

When smokers quit smoking, their attempt for getting lung menace goes down immediately and every year that they don't smoke.

It is also an interesting verity that 25% of nonsmokers that get lung tumor live with smokers, so the secondhand smoke is most likely the cause of their lung bane health issues.

How cancer is getting out of control and the conspiracy behind the rapid

Cancer develops when cells in a part of the body begin to grow out of control. Although there are many kinds of cancer, they all start because of out-of-control growth of abnormal cells.

Normal body cells grow, divide, and die in an orderly fashion. During the early years of a person's life, normal cells divide more rapidly until the person becomes an adult. After that, cells in most parts of the body divide only to replace worn-out or dying cells and to repair injuries.

Because cancer cells continue to grow and divide, they are different from normal cells. Instead of dying, they outlive normal cells and continue to form new abnormal cells. The world's oldest documented case of cancer hails from ancient Egypt, in 1500 b.c. The details were recorded on a papyrus, documenting 8 cases of tumors occurring on the breast. It was treated by cauterization, a method to destroy tissue with a hot instrument called "the fire drill". It was also recorded that there was no treatment for the disease, only palliative treatment.

In the recent decades cancer has spread in an amaizing speed all over the world and millions are effected by the disease. The drug companies have not found a a cure for cancer that really works. Why is cancer spreading so fast, how is to blame and what can we do about it? There are several reasons why cancer has become such a killer. The main reason is that cancer treatment costs a lot of money and people pay thousands of dollars for uneffective treatment, which means that a huge ammount of money is spent for treatment. We are not talking about millions of dollars but billions and billions of dollars. Someone is getting very rich. It is a fact that the drug indrustry is a business and treating us is not a priority number one. The main goal is to make profits and cancer is bringing in a lot of many. It is also a fact that vaccines and a hugh number of drugs cause cancer. Is it just a coincidence? Most deffinetly not, it is done by design. Finnish scientists recently found a link between antibiotics and cancer. By making use of more than three million medical records, researchers were able to compare patients who received antibiotics in 1995-1997 with the cancer rate among those same people in 1998-2004.

Their findings revealed that those who received two to five treatments of antibiotics were 25 percent more likely to have developed cancer than those who only got one round of antibiotics.

Those who were prescribed antibiotics more than six times were a third more likely to develop cancer. This included a 40 percent higher risk of prostate cancer, 14 percent for breast cancer, 80 percent for lung cancer, and 15 percent for intestinal cancer. In a censored interview conducted by medical historian Edward Shorter for WGBH public television (Boston) and Blackwell Science was cut from The Health Century due to its huge liability--the admission that Merck drug company vaccines have traditionally been injecting cancer viruses (SV40 and others) in people worldwide. watch the video Futhermore by 2020, it is predicted that Africa will be facing a cancer epidemic.click hereImmigrants seeking permanent legal residency in the U.S. are now mandated to take an expensive and controversial vaccine that has been linked with thousands of serious complaints and several deaths.click here The so called "Elite" do not care about human life, it is worthless. But money and power is everything to them and the only way to stop is to bring out the facts and the truth. All the natural cancer treatments that treat cancer much better are not talked about. The only way to treat cancer today is by chemotheraphy, radiation and surgery. All of them are uneffective, expensive and deadly. The only thing we can to about it is to treat cancer with alternative and natural methods. The governments are not going to help us, so we can only rely on ourselves.

Can Your Deep Wrinkle Cream Fight Cancer Too?

It can be difficult to find effective deep wrinkle cream and hard to avoid products that cause redness, itching, irritation or other adverse reactions. Typically, we need wrinkle removal for face, neck and around the eyes. But, don’t forget about your hands.

The hands are often the first areas of the body to “show” signs of age. The fibers start to lose their elasticity and you may begin to see wrinkles on your hands at an early age, particularly if you’re not careful about the cleaning products you use.

Wearing gloves and avoiding exposure to strong chemicals is always recommended, but there is a new deep wrinkle cream that has also been tested for effectiveness on volunteer’s hands that were damaged by contact dermatitis. Contact dermatitis has symptoms that include redness, itching, excessive dryness, cracking and inflammation.

The study results showed that a compound called Functional Keratin cured the contact dermatitis, raised moisture levels and healed the damage caused by the inflammation and cracking. Other studies focused strictly on wrinkle removal for face, neck and eyes.

As I mentioned above, deep wrinkle cream may actually “cause” dermatitis. Most companies choose to include strong skin irritants and known allergens. They stick with formulas developed years ago. And, despite dermatologist’s suggestions, they refuse to stop using things like artificial preservatives, added fragrances and petrolatum. Now, at last, we have a different option.

Natural ingredients like Functional Keratin provide safe wrinkle removal for face and body, without the risk of allergies or other negative side effects. Keratin is a protein found in the cells throughout the body. For years, cosmetic companies have included “de-naturalized” keratin in their lotions and creams. Those are ineffective.

Function Keratin is extracted from sheep’s wool and processed using patented processes that allow the protein to remain “naturally active”, offering us an effective option for wrinkle removal for face, hands and bodies, without risking our long term health and beauty.

Many of the ingredients that cosmetic companies use in their deep wrinkle cream are known carcinogens. Oxybenzone, for example, is an organic sun screening compound that is listed as a “photo-carcinogen”. It excites free radicals and damages DNA when exposed to light.

Cosmetic companies have been allowed to use many compounds without complete safety testing. But, independent researchers continue to test them and report results. These reports do not cause cosmetic companies to recall their products or change their formula. So, there a still hundreds, maybe thousands, of products on the market containing compounds like oxybenzone.

New creams are “designed” to penetrate through many layers of skin. So, the ingredients must be completely safe. We want effective wrinkle removal for face and other parts of the body, but we don’t want cancer.

The best products fight cancer, as well as wrinkles, by including natural antioxidants like vitamin E and coenzyme Q. Even the protein peptides in Functional Keratin have antioxidant activity. So, look for deep wrinkle cream that has been carefully designed and you’ll enjoy the way you look, longer.

Skin Cancer Information - Early Signs And Types Of Skin Cancer.

The other day, I was taken by the hair coloring of a clerk at the local store. I commented on how beautiful it was, with the dark base and the natural-looking streaks, as if the sun had touched her alone; and we began a conversation of how when we were younger we would not have to use any hair dyes: we just sprayed SunIn on our hair and laid out in the sun for an hour or two. This of course led us to discussing the near impossibility of doing that now, as we have blasted the ozone layer(s) so hard we have created a direct line between us and the harsher (more deadly) rays of the sun (and no, SunIn is a pump spray, not an aerosol, so we didn’t have to go there with culpability and irony and all).

But you probably didn’t come here to read about hair coloring techniques that are sun-free or chemical free, for that matter …at least not specifically. You came looking for information on the different types of skin cancer. The speculation and theory does hold some proof against chemicals in—ahem—health and beauty products; and it does point to the sun’s “damaging rays” as a possible cause, etc., but here, since we aren’t medical professionals, specialist, or experts, the info on the types of skin cancer is going to be basic and absent of finger-pointing, if you will:

There are three types of skin cancer: Basal Cell Carcinoma (a.k.a. non-melanoma skin cancer); Squamous Cell Carcinoma; and Melanoma.

Melanoma (also, Cutaneous Melanoma, Malignant Melanoma) – Cancer cells are growing in the melanocytes, the cells that are responsible for skin pigmentation. According to University of Maryland medicine and other experts, of all of the types of skin cancer, Melanoma is “the rarest and the most virulent….” It is typically found in people with fair skin, light hair, and/or light eyes, though it is possible in others with different complexions, and as the experts above also assert, does not exempt those with dark brown or black skin. Identifiable symptoms contain, most
commonly, a mole changing color, size, shape, or state (starts oozing or bleeding), or a mole that UMM notes “feels itchy, hard, lumpy, swollen, or tender to the touch.”

Squamous Cell Carcinoma—Also called non-melanoma skin cancer, Squamous Cell Carcinoma usually begins as a red-looking, scaly patch or patches of skin, or can appear as nodules. Of the three types of skin cancer, Squamous, affecting Caucasians, usually fair-complected, is the second most common and shows up, typically, on the ears (ear-rims), face, lips, and mouth.

Basal Cell Carcinoma – The second of the types of skin cancer, Basal Cell Cancer, typically starts as a “small, fleshy bump or nodule,” most commonly found on the head, neck, and/or hands. Of the three types of skin cancer, Basal Cell Carcinoma, which is typically found in Caucasians, say those at UMM, make up “more than 90 percent in the U.S..

My mother had the second most common of the types of skin cancer, on her lip, and while we at first teased her that it was herpes, she was smart enough to know it was a “sun blister” and quick enough to catch it by going to a specialist. That’s the good news, to give you hope when you bemoan the loss of days picnicking, swimming, and “bathing” under the wonderful sun.

Self - Healing And Cancer: Who Heals The Cancer Patient ?

The cancer patient is unique, in many ways, from most other medical patients. For instance, if you break your leg and seek treatment, it doesn’t seem to matter whether you believe your leg will heal or not, once it is set it will heal. As we’ll discover, this is a natural facet of our healing selves and applies equally to self-healing and cancer.

Cancer, like some other terminal illnesses, does depend a great deal on the attitude and beliefs of the patient. Realistically, any recovery from any illness or harm is likely to be a result of your attitude. The difference is that you’ve been told from birth that a broken leg will mend while you’ve been told that cancer is terminal and incurable.

If you are diagnosed with cancer and decide, at that point, that you’ve been handed a death sentence then you are very likely right. That belief is so strong as to be nearly unshakable. Again, this is what you’ve heard from birth and witnessed time and time again.

The biggest advance in cancer treatment will occur when people no longer believe in its incurability. When someone is diagnosed with cancer, but knows they will recover as surely as someone knows their broken leg will heal, then they will prove themselves correct. To learn how you can stop cancer in your body, read Cancer Free For Life.

This is because, ultimately, the patient does the healing. They may do it using the tools provided by a doctor, the tools provided by a homeopathic practitioner or the tools provided by their own consciousness. Regardless of the tools, however, it is the patient who uses them.

We haven’t necessarily been brought up with this theory in mind, so it’s difficult for some people to embrace fully. Most doctors will agree, if pressed, that all healing occurs because of the patient, not because of the doctor or the drug.

When a chemical drug is introduced to the body, it’s has to join with the cells in our body through receptor sites. Once planted in the receptor site, the cell proceeds to heal the body, not the drug.

Every drug that has been created by man has an equal, and superior, partner in the human body. We create these drugs and send them out with more precision than the finest doctor in the world.

Some people may point to the fact that we do get sick and try to dispel this theory. However, the very fact that we spend the majority of our lives healthy despite the constant presence and attack of viruses and bacteria proves it.

Succinctly put, we get sick when we are living in unnatural ways. We have introduced practices, activities, beliefs and thoughts into our bodies that nature never intended for us do. When this happens, our internal biochemistry is adversely affected and we go to a doctor. The doctor prescribes a facsimile of the chemical our body could produce on its own and we get better.

The most effective therapy would be one that induces the body to create the chemicals necessary for its own healing. Of course, the path of least resistance would be to simply adopt a lifestyle that allows our body to behave as naturally intended.

The existence of even one case of “spontaneous remission” indicates that the human body contains the ability and capacity to heal itself of cancer. As it stands, there are a great number of spontaneous remission cases. While the prevalent trend is to view these cases as abnormal, they are by design the most natural reaction to cancer.

Curing cancer is as simple (and as complex) as discovering the mechanism which prompts these spontaneous remissions and figuring out how to replicate it. Doing such will ensure that we are free from the condition and allow you to do as nature intended: heal thyself.

The High Cost Of Cancer Meds Have Some Cancer Patients Down

The cost of cancer medication has become astronomical. Being unable to afford access to good health coverage used to rest solely on the impoverished populations of our nation. Today, it’s hitting the middle class and affluent just as hard, if not harder. I know that sounds awry, but I believe I’m right.

Taxpayers absorb much of the bill because most cancer patients are covered by government insurance programs such as Medicare. And who normally foots those bills, but the middle-to-upper class in our society? So for them, it’s a double whammy.

But, because cancer is such a non-discriminatory illness, the slate of ease for the financially fit has been wiped clean. Today, there are people trying to decide if they will buy groceries or their medications, and it’s not just the poor anymore.

Isn’t someone scratching their heads wondering why? They should be! How come people who have to deal with the heartache of receiving a cancer diagnosis have the extra pain of figuring out how they will afford the very medications that will help extend their lives? Especially when the treatments of cancer, such as chemo, so tire a person out that they are unable to continue working and earning an income.

Something seems horrifically wrong with that picture, and up until now, I had wondered what the answer could be to such a mind-boggling problem. To illustrate the maniacal heights some of the prices of cancer meds can reach, take a look at this list:

Tarceva, a drug used to treat lung cancer, which happens to be the number one cancer in America that claims the most lives, is priced at $2,400 to $2,700 a month! That’s more than most people’s take home salary in a month’s time!

And what about Gleevec? It’s a cancer medication that is used for those suffering with Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). How much does it cost? It rolls in at a hefty $2,600 a month. Again, out of range for most Americans’ monthly budget.

How about Nexavar? Where does it rank in this stout list of cancer medications? Try $4,300 a month! That’s $51,600 a year! Take this drug for a couple of years, and you’re well over the $100,000 mark!

And who have I found is the grand puba of the group? Weighing in at about $10,000 a month is the cancer medication, heavy weight champion, Erbitux! If you take this medication for ten years, and you have a million dollar cap on your health insurance, you’ve maxed it out with the high cost of this med. Unbelievable, right?

Now, we know that will never happen because if you factor in the cost of care in addition to the cost of the cancer medication, you’d be over your insurance cap a lot faster, which is another fear of cancer patients: outliving their benefits.

It’s no wonder the high cost of cancer medications have some cancer patients down. And it gets even more frustrating when you think that not one of the drugs listed actually cures cancer. Not that it would make it right, but I think most could understand if someone charged that much for “the cure”. If I had cancer, I’d certainly pay it.

But for those who do, and especially those who aren’t in a position to afford their medication costs, what can they do?

Thank God for patient assistance programs because they provide a way to get your expensive cancer medications for free! The very drugs that were listed for thousands of dollars a month can be free to you, if you know where to look. Don’t be discouraged; there are alternatives. The high cost of cancer meds don’t have to have you down any longer, and that’s good news.

Another Way To Heal Yourself Of Cancer Today!!! Demonstration That Evening News Can Cause Cancer

Stay away from the news. I know that in the 21st century, it sounds like an incredible idea to suggest that you stay away from the news. But the news that you read in the newspapers or that you hear on the evening news will make you sick. Guaranteed!

You see, scientists and biochemists are finding that when we’re happy, our brain secretes endorphins that support and strengthen our immune system. And when we’re unhappy, our brain secretes endorphins that send negative messages all through the immune system and make it weaker. And rather than fighting infection, bacteria, or even cancer, when your brain sends a negative message to your immune system via the endorphins, then the immune system loses the defence battle against the invaders. Now, I don’t know about you, but the evening news or the newspaper news are rarely exciting, stimulating or joy provoking.

The way your body works is that your thoughts and emotions trigger a chemical reaction in the brain, which then sends a message to all parts of your body via the bloodstream. That message is carried through transmitters that are neuropeptides, chains of amino acids. The blood reaches every single nook and cranny of your body and if there is a part that is already weakened by past injuries, constant stress of chronic fragility, the chemicals are more likely to deliver their negative message to that area, and reinforce that past trauma.

And the evening news tend to depress your immune system. Studies conducted at Stanford University on students taking final exams showed that their T-cells, the cells that normally fight colds, disease and cancer, were severely reduced during the time of exam stress. The students were more likely to get sick during exam season.

The same occurs in your body when you are exposed to depressing news or events. Think about it for a moment. What would really happen if you missed the latest evening news report?

Through the years, I have stayed away voluntarily from the news of any kind and I have noticed that if the news is important enough, it will reach me anyway. Either people around me will discuss it and inform me, or there will be headlines on the news stand. I find that I have missed really little of importance through the decades I have ‘missed’ the news. You might try maybe a day at a time, then two. Then an entire week without news. You could even occupy the extra time you gain for some stress reducing techniques.

Think of the brain as a machine for not merely filtering and storing this sensory input, but for associating it with other events or stimuli occurring simultaneously at any synapse or receptor along the way—this is learning. Let’s look at how this occurs in the process of vision, which is very advanced and complex in humans. After a visual signal hits the retina, the light-sensitive part of the eye, it must make its way across five more synapses as it moves from the back of the brain to the frontal cortex.

Emerging Signs Identified with Ovarian Cancer

If a woman is diagnosed with ovarian cancer during the early stages of the disease, her survival rates are excellent (75%) - that means it's critical to keep an eye on potential ovarian cancer warning signs.

A woman's chances of survival are strong if the ovarian cancer is caught early, but approximately 75% of women are diagnosed after it has already spread beyond the ovaries, and this is when survival rates drop to only around 20 or 30 percent.

To learn more about symptoms and signs of ovarian cancer that you should watch out for, read on.

Abdominal Bloating

Constant and persistent bloating is often a clear indicator of ovarian cancer, especially if it's a significant change in a patient's bloating habits. So, if you've noticed an increase in how much and how often you're bloating, talk to you doctor.

Abdominal or Pelvic Pain

Abdominal and pelvic pain or chronic constipation is more common in women with ovarian cancer than those without.

Loss of Appetite and Decreased Weight

Another one of many ovarian cancer warning signs is when patients have trouble eating or often feel full even after consuming just a small amount of food. Because of their decreased appetite, weight loss is often common and a powerful indicator for ovarian cancer.

Urinary Dysfunction

Many women with ovarian cancer complain of a constant need to urinate, urinary incontinence, an urgency to urinate or an increased frequency in their urination. The symptoms are comparable to a urinary tract infection but typically without the addition of painful urination.

Back Pain and General Fatigue

Because general fatigue and a dull, back pain are common symptoms for many women - often experienced a few days every month - it's hard for patients and doctors to associate them with possible ovarian cancer.

One clear indicator is if the symptoms are persistent and almost daily rather than restricted to a specific period. However, other symptoms should be present before the patient is screened for cancer.

Family History

If you know that your family has a history of ovarian cancer, it's important to tell your doctor and be screened or evaluated on an ongoing basis. Essentially, if one immediate family member or two members of your extended family have been diagnosed with the disease, then it could be a clear warning sign and an indicator that you need to watch out for possible symptoms.

The good news is that even early stage ovarian cancer can produce many of these warning signs, and early detection often results in a stronger prognosis. So, watch your body, be aware of changes and don't be afraid to consult with your physician.

Having Surgery For Lung Cancer

For some lung cancers in the early stages, an option that offers the best opening for an absolute recovery is surgery. Medical literature has shown this to be veritable when a serene is diagnosed with non-small cabal pest and the detection is made in the early stages and the swelling is small and no support represent that it has broadened to any other organ systems, if surgery is worn to eradicate the lump, the patient has up to an 80% opening of quick the five year survival celebrate.

Surgery is recommended for some but not others - why? Surgical conduct is normally recommended for non-small group cancers, especially in the early stages. Surgery MAY be recommended for small cabal IF it's diagnosed in the initial stages. The argue for this is because most small chamber is seldom diagnosed before it's already begun to multiply to other parts of the body.

On the other hand, non-small booth does not division as express or as virulently. Non-small cell tends to identify into one blackhead, hence, there is a superior ability that surgery can delete all the scourge in one surgery.

Depending on where the growth is located is how the verdict is bent as to about whether surgery is appropriate. If it is located too close to the feeling, the windpipe, major blood vessels or other major organs, the risks and dangers are much better if surgery is attempted. In these luggage your physician may mention radiation or chemotherapy to telescope and murder the cancerous cells.

The different kinds of surgery for behavior. Depending on the scene and bulk of the cancer found, there are three main types of surgery that are worn.

If it has been found in it's early stage and is confined to a very small portion of the lung, an oncologist may make a 'lung resection' or a 'segmentectomy'. During each of those surgeries the surgeon removes a small partition of one lung, the part where the cancerous cells have been detected. If it's determined that it may have invaded the adjacent cells though, the doctor will then use more radical surgeries.

The exclusion of one or more lobes of the lung, but not the undivided organ, is called a 'lobectomy'. If the thoracic surgeon believes that only part of it is precious and that it has not apply to the whole organ, the surgeon will opt for a lobectomy.

However, if it is alleged the whole lung may be occupied, he may then take to do a pneumonectomy. A 'pneumonectomy' is the deduction of the entire lung. Before this surgery, the doctor will work tests to be definite that the enduring lung will be competent of supporting your wishes for oxygen before burden a complete pneumonectomy.

Surgery is a very insidious care and is not the behavior of choice for most cancers. Doctors will only work surgery if there is a hazard that it will detach it in its entirety. If it has superior afar a small portion, or it's speedily dispersal, then surgery to eliminate it does not make any brains. In these instances, radiology, chemotherapy or some other font of conduct would be a more reasonable alternative.

Fighting Cancer and winning with Raw Foods!

Let me tell you the story of how I, Ronda Nelson "the mom", started on a journey to become an empowered mother with a mission. It was one of the most frightening realizations a mother could encounter . My oldest daughter Rachel had been diagnosed with cancer . She was only 10 years old when we discovered the tumor on her upper arm. It was a mother's worst nightmare, full of doctor appointments, myriads of horrible tests, and two nerve racking surgeries. Then after buckets of tears and intense praying, we were given the dreaded diagnosis: Ewing 's Sarcoma - cancer of the bone. She had a death sentence of 15 months and a 10 percent chance at life.

So we started in with the chemo and radiantion and the long hospital stays. I watched her consume food from the hospital that was just canned/processed/pre-packaged matter that supposedly sustained life but couldn'treally make her well. So, each time we went, I took a bag full of different supplements, my juicer, a few raw green vegetables, some apples and a 20 pound bag of carrots and plopped it on a little red wagon which belonged to the pediatrics/oncology floor. The nurses would just chuckle as they watched this "crazy" mother hauling big bags of produce to her daughter's room. I just held my self together and kept on walking. Sometimes the moment would get me and I would start to cry.

They would later question me as to how I could ever think that this food could possibly have any effect on my daughter's cancer. My commitment made me the laughing stock of the pediatric oncology floor. But I kept my strength up, for her.

Three times a day, I would turn on my juicer and blend up a healthy concoction made of high nutrient foods and immune system boosters. The only way she could get this down was with a straw and sometimes, when she couldn't swallow because of complications from the chemo, I would use a dropper to get a little fluid down her throat. I just had to make sure she had enough good food in her so her body could heal on its own. No one seemed to understand. It seemed like we were trying to fight a wildfire single-handedly with a couple of garden hoses. But we kept on.

Then, there was this moment that swallowed me whole. I will never forget her little face as she ask me "mommy, am I going to die?" and at that moment I tried to assure her of our faith and that I believed Jesus would heal her and that we would continue to pray and thank him for his blessings even though we could not see them yet. Then the moment spit me out as I left her room and I began to sob uncontrollably. At that point I realized I was unable to control whether she lived or died but the one thing I did have control over was what she ate. So, my determination magnified as I started to understand what it would take to make her body stronger so she could stop dying and start healing. This was the beginning of the journey I am still on today.

My daughter, Rachael, is 22, happily married and has a 4 year old son. She is still plagued at times with difficulties in her body from the massive amount of chemotherapy she endured, but she was able to fight and win this war through lots of prayer, good nutrition and a constant belief that she was going to live and not die. I learned some incredibly powerful lessons watching Rachel fight for her life. And all of this manifested into one point...sharing what I've learned with you.

Green Tea and Cancer

Italian researchers have shown compounds found in green tea may prevent the development of prostate cancer in men with a pre-cancerous condition.

Doctor Saverio Bettuzzi from the University of Parma in Italy has reported back after a one-year study, which found only one man out of a group of 32 receiving Green Tea Catechins developed prostate cancer " a rate of only 3 percent. In contrast, nine out of 30 men treated with placebo developed prostate cancer, at the expected rate of 30 percent.

Dr Bettuzzi told the American Association for Cancer Research that Green Tea Catechins (GTCs) may be the answer.

"The interest in GTCs and other polyphenols (antioxidants found in many plants) derives from traditional Chinese medicine, but the Mediterranean diet is very rich in vegetables, thus providing high levels of polyphenols, and lower rates of prostate cancer are found in that region as well," he pointed out.

These results support research by Curtin University in Western Australia which has also shown that long-term consumption of green tea can help prevent prostate cancer, which kills one in 11 Australian men.

Professor Colin Binns, who studied a sample of Chinese men who had imbibed green tea for over 20 years, found they were two-thirds less likely to develop prostate cancer. Buddha knows Best

Buddhist monks first espoused the medicinal power of green tea as far back as 800 AD. In his book, 'Maintaining Health by Drinking Tea', one monk, Eisai, wrote, "Tea has an extraordinary power to prolong life. Tea is the elixir that creates the mountain-dwelling immortal." However it took Westerners a few more centuries to catch on to the tea's health benefits.

Although all teas come from the same botanical source, green tea is unique because of the way it is processed. Freshly picked black tea leaves are 'withered' indoors and allowed to oxidize, whereas green tea leaves are steamed and parched, which better preserves their natural active substances. Steeping green tea in hot water for five minutes can release up to 80% of the leaves’ catechins.

Surveys of Japanese tea drinkers have found that those who consume four to six cups of green tea per day have lower levels of breast, oesophageal, liver, and lung and skin cancer. Professor Binns recommends three to four cups of green tea per day as a healthy recipe, but also warns that no tea is a magical cure for cancer. Green vegetables, which are also high in antioxidants, could be equally important in helping our bodies stop free radicals from damaging our cells.

A Look At Genes And Breast Cancer

Official facts have exposed that between 5-10% of the genetic structure caused breast menace of an individual. Even although the percentage seems relatively low, the actual numbers are high enough to swift many men and women to take repeated checkups. Yes, even men can hire breast sarcoma. This only occurs about .7% as regularly as women but it does happen and kills about 12,000 men each year.

So, modestly being female increases the chances of breast tumor relative to men by 133:1. One leading system shows that the most likely start is the substantially senior percentage of estrogen and progesterone in females. These hormones play a position in section lump and show to be intricate when that advance occurs uncontrollably, as in breast canker.

One feature in one's genetic framework that might not surface to be genetic at first look is the increased attempt that accompanies aging. Growing adult, at what quotient and in what way, is awfully influenced by an individual's genetics. Researchers have determined that genetics determines an individual's physiology and that in chance acting an important task in the aging process.

About 17% of insidious breast cancers occur in women in their 40s. Nevertheless, a massive 78% of those who treaty the disease are in their 50s or older. That shouldn't be surprising by now. It's commonplace to study the cancers are more likely the older one gets. Take treatment not to excursion the testimony around, though. It's does not rectify to say that 78% of women 50 or older get breast scourge. In actuality, the number is about 1 in 12 or only 8%.

A chief genetic endanger factor doesn't come from ordinary genes; fairly it comes from gene mutations. The most everyday of these gene mutations are labeled BRCA1 and BRCA1. These genes participate in making proteins that check cells from experiencing abnormal tumor. Mutations or changes in these genes revise that ability thus gateway the gate to raise the chances of contracting breast sarcoma. Some studies have determined that having the change seats an individual at danger for developing breast advance at up to 80%.

Typically those mutations are inherited and not shaped by an individual's environment, diet or any other factors that could be controlled. Women whose mother's have had breast blight are at a greater attempt for developing the term themselves. Obviously women do not inherit genes from siblings, but having a sibling that has contracted the disease does enlarge one's attempt.

An additional gene changed that could play a position is the ATM (ataxia-telangiectasia mutation). This involves a gene that plays a position in the repaid of DNA strands. The stake of breast bane is doubled when another CHEK-2 gene mutates. Mutations in a gene called the p53 fuel the chances because it plant in the suppression of tumor growth. Fortunately, these occurrences all have awfully low likelihood.

Until there are advancements in gene therapy, there isn't something women or men can do to amend the genes which they were givens. Nevertheless intended the expose factors can afford information needed to come up with a diagnosis. Knowing that you have a family account containing an individual with Cowden Syndrome, for example, provides you with more rationale to obtain repeated and early checkups.

His rubber rings are ubiquitous nowadays, an ever state awareness tool for pest, and a furnish-raising tool for blight explore.

Among evil awareness ornaments, next to Armstrong's rubber wristbands come the breast tumor awareness charms. However, different the 'LiveStrong' rubber ensemble rings, the breast bane awareness earrings come in different flag. The most accepted redden for breast melanoma awareness earrings is pink.

Nevertheless why pink? There is a chronicle behind it: Charlotte Haley, a 68-year-old lady, began making and distributing peach garland in the 1990s with cards that read: "The National Cancer Institute yearly plan is $1.8 billion, only 5 percent goes for growth prevention. Help us arouse up our legislators and America by draining this ribbon." Haley's daughter, sister and grandmother had breast menace. Self magazine sought to use Haley's ribbon but she refused proverb they were too commercial. The magazine came up with another shade then -- pink. Focus groups say pink is 'gentle, comforting and curative.' Soon the pink ribbon became the worldwide icon for breast bane, and Charlotte Haley's peach ribbon chronicle.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. says that more than 211,000 women will be diagnosed with breast bane in America in 2005. Of these 43,300 will die. One woman in eight either has or will ripen breast canker in her life. In addition, 1,600 men will be diagnosed with breast scourge and 400 will die this year.

However, the breast menace awareness charms can come in all insignia, a rainbow of them, depending on the organization or gifts promotion them. These charms typically have some point, such as 'Support Breast Cancer Research And Education' stamped on them.

Well, the breast menace awareness charms needn't be made of rubber or silicone either. The charms can be made of prize, or cats eye, or metal, or any other fitting pertinent. There are even stainless steel breast melanoma awareness earrings! The difference between them is, of course, the value. The rubber ones would advertise for around $1 an example. The metal ones would promote senior. Some nugget breast canker awareness charms push for around $30 a piece. Such bracelets help two purposes -- they are jewels and butter the memo of charity and breast plague research.

The advantage with rubber breast pest awareness bracelets, distant from the value, is that they are infinitely customizable. Yes, you can order them in any affect and with any note stamped on them. Breast Cancer And Breast Implants

Breast Implants Do not Raise the Risk of Cancer: The women who have underwent silicone implants feel more comfortable and sure as compared to other procedures. Silicone implants give a more relaxed look and feel to the breasts. Nevertheless the hot discussion on breasts and canker has fashioned mayhem among women. Researchers from Sweden have given a ray of prospect to people who do't find any replacement to silicone implants.

Despite what you may have heard in the media, the decades-long Swedish revision has determined that there is no linkage between breast implants and a better hazard for breast scourge. This is in contradiction to the long-time belief in United States that silicone from implants causes blight and other autoimmune disorders such as lupus and arthritis.

Recently Sweden released the fallout of a research they conducted which followed 3,500 women for up to 37 days forward-bust enhancement surgery. These is the best lessons conducted cultivate meeting and it showed that silicone implants did not begin an escalate in growth.

The US FDA and Silicone

The United States Food and Drug Administration banned silicone implants back in 1992 for use in cosmetic bust enhancement procedures after they were whispered to start plague and autoimmune diseases. In truth, during the cycle many women sued the manufacturers of the policy and billions of dollars in claims were paid-out. At that time, salt became an alternative safer rich for the implants and replaced silicone.

In a surprising new move, the FDA is again looking at allowing silicone breast implants to be used here in United States based on the Swedish survey's information. While some female groups have been miserable with the talks, many fake surgeons are hopeful to see an alternative to the salty-filled ones currently on the sell nowadays. Because of the properties of the saline implants, they are not always the principle decision to use. With the re-penalize of silicone implants, synthetic surgeons will have more options to help their patients in getting the look and feel they want from their breast augmentation surgeries.

Is the Swedish Study Flawed?

There are some in the business who think that the Swedish analysis is a flaw because it is financially backed by one of the most common lodge makers-Dow Corning. While Dow Corning denies this, there is still speculation. Additionally, there are others who consider the study is flawed because of the plain type of the archetype breast augmentation surgical applicant; the best candidates being women who are lanky and have had their children at a younger age. This means that those for a senior hazard of cancer because of overkill burden or need of childbirth would have been minus possible to have breast implants in the first place.

The decisive word on silicone breast implants is yet to be vocal. The FDA is probable to relief their new ruling on them by the end of this calendar year. At that time there is likely to be a total new about of influence in the industry, both for, and against the use of silicone. However, the only thing patients can do pending then is to interval and see what happens.

In statement because there are several different behavior in which this form of pest can be detected it is considered to be a positive form of sarcoma that can be treated and the persona cured.

The best customs for helping to find breast pest in its early stages nowadays is through whichever a breast examination being accepted our or the use of a mammography analysis. These are the most favored conduct being worn nowadays of detecting this form of evil. In studies which have been agreed out it has been found that in those women who have their evil detected in its early stages have a better venture of survival.

As we are now knowledge through our doctors and through advertisements it is important the women learn how to move out frequent examinations of their breasts for themselves. The incentive for this being is that they will be much more sensitive of any changes that have taken place since the last time the tartan them. Also it is important for those women who have a story in their family of women distress from breast disease to have a frequent mammogram check. By liability this they will be assured that the disease can be detected at the initial stages of tumor as probable. In actuality today these forms of examination as worn as the heart for detecting any form of breast tumor in women.

However there are many who are unsure just how often it is they should be hauling out a breast examination or under available a mammograph to see if they have this form of sarcoma or not. Generally medical professionals felt it that a lady should be looking to cart out a self examination of her breasts each month. Probably the best time to be burden this is when they are having a shower.

In the USA today the American Cancer Society (ACS) recommends that once a female reaches the age of 40 she should have a first mammography and then another annually. It is the first mammography that a female has which will be used as a base reading for all outlook tests that take place. Because of the high percentage of women now being diagnosed with breast melanoma in its very early stages the chances of women surviving has better. In statement in women over the age of 50 the number of women now closing from breast growth has been condensed by 30%.

Although mammography does help to reveal breast plague in most women, there is a small percentage (10-15%) whose form of breast cannot be detected using this manner. Yet winning haulage out a bodily examination it can so it is essential that all women learn the correct way of tentative their own breasts for cipher of breast pest. Certainly it is best that a woman does relay out an examination of her own breasts on a monthly root and if she thinks that there may be a trouble can as her physician to then carry out a pure examination as well.

BREAST CANCER - HOW TO SUCCEED

Overview

When a group of cells display uninhibited growth, which refers to division beyond the normal limits, this phenomenon is commonly referred to as cancer. Other characteristics include an attack and destruction of surrounding tissues, and the spread to other locations in the body via lymph or blood, which is known as metastasis.

These malignant, which refers to a severe and progressively worsening disease, properties of cancers differentiate them from benign tumors, which are self-limited and do not invade or metastasise.

A tumor refers to a swelling or lesion formed by an unusually high growth of cells and occurs with most cancers. However, some, like leukemia, do not produce tumors.

Breast cancer becomes established, initially, in the cells of the breast in men and women. On a worldwide basis, the second most established form of cancer, after lung cancer, is that of breast cancer. It represents 10% of all cancers relating to both sexes. It is the fifth most common cause of cancer death.

The most common type of cancer specifically related to women, globally, is that of breast cancer. It occurs at more than twice the rate of that of colorectal cancer and cervical cancer and about three times that of lung cancer. Further, in the case of women, deaths from breast cancer, worldwide, is approximately 25% more than that from lung cancer.

In a study in 2005, it was found that breast cancer produced 502,000 deaths worldwide. To get this into context, this represents about 7% of all cancer deaths, and nearly 1% of all recorded deaths. Further, there has been a substantial increase, globally, in breast cancer since the 1970s. This statistic, it is suggested, may be associated with modern lifestyles in the western world. On a global basis, the occurrence of breast cancer differs significantly according to region. It is less widespread in less-developed countries and more so in the further-developed countries. In the twelve designated regions of the world, the annual incidence rates per 100,000 women are as follows: Eastern Asia, 18; Southern Central Asia, 22; sub-Saharan Africa, 22; South-Eastern Asia, 26; North Africa and Western Asia, 28; South and Central America, 42; Eastern Europe, 49; Southern Europe, 56; Northern Europe, 73; Oceania, 74; Western Europe, 78; and in North America, 90.

The United States has the highest incidence rates of breast cancer in women, globally. A study has shown 141 cases among white women and 122 among African American women. Also in the US, breast cancer amongst women is the most prevalent cancer. After lung cancer, it produces the second highest occurrence of deaths from all cancers.

There is a 12.5% chance of women in the US developing invasive breast cancer within their lifetime. Further, there is a 3% chance that the breast cancer that they may contract will actually cause their death. A forecast has suggested that, in 2007, breast cancer would be the cause of 40,910 deaths in the US. This would represent some 7% of cancer deaths, and almost 2% of all deaths.

For the last few years, both the incidence and death rates from breast cancer in the US have been in decline. In 2005, a study conducted in the US by the Society for Women's Health Research concluded that breast cancer remains the disease that causes the most concern. This is an interesting outcome since heart disease is a much more widespread determinant when considering all deaths among women.

Breast cancer is also prevalent in men. This is due to the fact that the breast is composed of identical tissues in respect of both genders. However, it must be remembered that the manifestation of breast cancer in men is some 100 times less common than that in women. Conversely, men with breast cancer are considered to have the same statistical survival rates as women.

Cancer Before the Cure - What Support is Available

In 2007, 7.6 million people died from cancer worldwide. In 2008, there is no sign of this number dropping. Currently, cancer is the cause of about 13% of all deaths, and it is unlikely that many people don't know at least one person that has been affected by cancer in some way.

While cancer is something that we don't want to live with, we must. Though cancer research continues to travel in leaps and bounds towards new treatments and a cure of some sort, it would be naive to believe that this discovery will be made any time soon. That moment, when it comes, will be an incredible moment in human history that will change the lives of billions. However until that moment comes, cancer is something that must be dealt with in other ways.

Support for those who are living with cancer is widely available, but perhaps not widely known about. The shock of a diagnosis can leave people feeling lost, and it often does not even occur to them that there is a wealth of support facilities to help both sufferers of cancer and their families and friends cope with the disease.

The first port of call is often the internet. These days, with high-speed connections and widespread access to the net, millions of people are contributing valuable information to the web every day. Informative websites are abundant, as are support forums, email lists and chat rooms. The internet can also point users in the direction of how to gain financial help, what publications to read and how to get in touch with local support groups.

Support groups can be invaluable, though the majority of those living with cancer do not frequent them. They are frequently organised by hospitals or cancer support charities and can provide a strong network of help for those who need it. Whether members of the support groups are suffering themselves, know somebody that is, are cancer survivors or just concerned community members, the system of cancer support offered is precious. Sometimes it's best to talk to people going through the same thing who will understand what you're going through and learn how they learned to cope. This social interaction is an oft-neglected form of cancer support, despite its benefits.

There are also courses that people affected by cancer can attend in order to learn how to cope with the disease being a part of their life. These free courses offer cancer support, often by cancer survivors, and help people come to terms with the shock and the physical and psychological effects cancer can have.

Naturally we hope for a cure sometime in the near future, but until then it is important to know that support is close by for those that need it.

Doing Your Part in Fighting Prostate Cancer

So you have been diagnosed with prostate cancer. In the following year or two, you will have to undergo treatments that can produce negative side effects that can affect your everyday lives, such as reduce sexual desire and incontinence.

Or it could be that you are in the high risk group, being African-American with family history of prostate cancer and you are approaching 40. The situation may be bleak and beyond your capacity of control. Just what can you do to help it? Is it too late now that you are stuck in this situation?

The first thing you got to realize is you have the power to change the outcome. Medical miracle often happen out of human faith and strength. Approaching your prostate cancer situation from a victim's perspective will not help you feel and get better.

There are a number of adjustment that you can make to your life.

#1 Stop Smoking

Smoking men are 60% more likely to develop prostate cancer than non-smokers. Doctors have found a link between smoking and prostate cancer - although smoking may not cause cancer, the ingredient in cigarette will promote cancer cells to grow more rapidly.

Smokers under 55 with prostate cancer were at a greater risk of having cancer that has spread beyond the prostate. Now that you already have prostate cancer, it doesn't make much different right? Wrong. The spread of cancer is even higher in current smokers than in former smokers.

#2 Exercise

Exercising can produce a dramatic 70% reduction in the risk of dying from prostate cancer of being diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in older men above 65. No matter how unwell you feel, dedicate some time for a brisk walk.

An intensive case study on a group of men recently diagnosed with early prostate cancer and under watchful waiting showed that men who eat a healthy diet and walk 30 minutes a day 6 days a week have slowed down progression of cancer cells by a whooping 70%.

#3 Taking Oral Supplement - Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a the wonder antioxidant and anti-cancer compound that is proven to prolong lifespan in lower level test subjects such as mice. The resveratrol long term effect in human lifespan is not established due because it is so new, but current research show that it is promising.

Resveratrol is the compound found in red wine. While it is not possible to drink a bottle of red wine a day, resveratrol supplement softgels can provide the same amount of this powerful antioxidant.

Resveratrol can slow down or even stop the growth of tumor. High risk candidate and healthy individual can consume resveratrol to prevent prostate cancer. It contains polyphenols that is a highly effective and safe agent for cancer prevention.

#4 Modify Your Diet

This is a broad topic on its own that I talk about in another article. Generally a primary vegan, low fat diet rich with soy- based products, fish and cruciferous vegetables is ideal for fighting cancer.

#5 Taking Oral Supplement - Omega-3 Fatty Acid

Not all omega fatty acids are the same. Remember that it is Omega-3 fatty acid that reduce prostate tumor growth while Omega-6 has the OPPOSITE effects. A study on a group of men over 30 years conclude that Omega-3 found in fish oil can inhibit carcinogenesis.

Typical Evidences and Risks Coupled with Kidney Cancer

Because five-year survival rates increase significantly in patients who are diagnosed early, detection of kidney cancer symptoms is critical. To learn more about symptoms associated with the disease and contributing risk factors, keep reading.

Symptoms

Bloody Urine: Bloody urine is a common sign of kidney cancer. However, like many kidney cancer symptoms, it can also be associated with bladder cancer and other bladder-related ailments.

Lower Back Pain: Many kidney cancer patients complain of a lower back that's unrelated to an injury or other causes.

Lump: A lump or mass in the abdomen is often felt or found by patients with kidney cancer.

Fatigue: Fatigue is a common symptom of many kidney cancer patients. They feel weak, lethargic and unable to maintain high energy levels. Unfortunately, this is a very general symptom associated with numerous diseases.

Weight Loss: Weight loss that is both unintentional and rapid is often a sign of kidney cancer. However, this symptom is also common to many other diseases and cancers.

Fever: Frequent fevers that aren't connected to some other infection, flu or cold are often associated with kidney cancer.

Swelling: Edema, also known as swelling in the lower legs is a typical kidney cancer symptom most apparent in women.

Higher Blood Pressure: Like many of the other symptoms listed above, high blood pressure can be attributed to numerous other diseases. However, if discovered alongside other symptoms, it can often be a good indicator for the disease.

Risk Factors and Causes of Kidney Cancer

Smoking: Smoking is the cause of 30% of renal cell carcinoma (common kidney cancer) cases in male smokers and 25% of cases in women.

Analgesic Medication: Addictions to painkillers that contain phenactin, which is no longer approved in the United States, can dramatically increase a person's risk for kidney cancer.

Occupational Exposure: Exposure to carcinogenic materials at work like asbestos, petroleum products, camium and certain organic solvents can all increase the risk for developing kidney cancer.

Genetic Disorders: Genetic disorders of the kidney, such as tuberous sclerosis, von Hippel-Lindau disease or a heavy family history of the disease can all increase a person's risk for developing kidney cancer.

Obesity: People who are obese or very overweight are more at risk for developing renal cell kidney cancer than those who maintain a healthy body weight.

Kidney Failure: People with a history of kidney failures may develop cysts in their kidneys as a result. These cysts can expedite the development of kidney cancer.

Advancing Age: Typically, renal cell carcinoma only develops in adults over the age of fifty and under seventy.

Gender: RCC (renal cell carcinoma) kidney cancer is twice as common in men than women.

If any of the listed risk factors apply to you, be sure to keep a watchful eye out for potential kidney cancer symptoms. Should any start presenting themselves, consult your physician immediately.
