Positivity Does Not Touch Cancer

Cancer is serious business. It is a deadly illness that has claimed many lives, and will continue to take lives despite the variety of treatment options available for it. Cancer is considered in some circles as the best place to exercise the supposed power of “positive thinking.” In theory, a person in stable emotional health and positive mindset is more likely to survive a brutal illness, such as cancer, than someone who simply accepts defeat and gives in to “fate.” However, recent studies have found that there is really no truth to that previously accepted notion, with scientific data showing that people who were optimistic about their chances were just as likely to bite the dust as those who held more realistic, or even pessimistic, views of their chances of survival.

Emotional health and status, according to the study recently concluded under the supervision of Dr. James Coyne, held no bearing on the chances of survival. According to the data gathered over a period of several years, which include detailed analysis of two different studies on cancer, there was no correlation between feelings and cancer. The study went to great pains to eliminate other possible factors affecting the survival of a cancer patient, including gender, psychological factors, the location of the tumor, and the stage of the disease. The results universally showed that positivity had no effect whatsoever on the chances of survival, but the researchers do concede that psychological and emotional support does still provide help for cancer patients. It just doesn't really do anything to extend one's life or help treatment methods in making the cancer recede.

The study covered several types of cancer, with the test subjects being in different stages of the disease. The researchers also took consideration of a pool of patients in different methods of cancer treatment, to obtain the best possible data and results for the study. Of the 1,093 patients who were included in the study, over 646 of them had died during the timespan of the study. The researchers took careful note of everything they could, including outlook, attitude, psychological state, and emotional health. Their data effectively discards the long-held notion that positive thinking and emotions can help prolong a person's life, which has been among the most prevalent pieces of advice that doctors provide their patients.

The research team also determined that those with more “realistic” expectations, or were outright pessimistic about their chances, did not have a higher mortality rate than their happier counterparts. This, too, contradicts previously held notions that negative thinking can aid in the spread of a tumor. The only real discrepancy the study could note was that pessimistic patients tended to be less eager to work their way through the difficult methods of fighting cancer, which did have an effect on their chances. However, removing negative perceptions and emotions altogether did not have any feasible effect on its own.

The researchers aren't saying that people should forbid cancer patients from engaging or joining in support groups or psychiatric counseling sessions. There are still benefits to allowing a patient to go to those groups if they want to. The effects, however, are likely going to be purely psychological.

The World’s Largest Selling Breast Cancer Treatment!

Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate is oral anti-oestrogen, and the world’s largest selling breast cancer treatment. In 1998, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate for diminishing the occurrence of breast cancer in women who is at high risk of developing the disease. With Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate, it is achievable to reverse a subsisting growth process of dead tissue and stop further growth.

Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate is also called Istubal - Tamoxifen Citrate or Valodex - Tamoxifen Citrate. Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate has proved competence when cancer has reached to other body parts. A further new indication for Nolvadex is also sanctioned by the FDA for reducing contralateral breast cancer. Tests for paediatric use of Nolvadex are in progress. Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate is not an anabolic or androgenic steroid. It belongs to the group of sex hormones.

In the late 80’s, Dan Duchaine stated that Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate could also be used by muscle-builders to close down the growth of the other type of tumor in the mammary gland, Gynocomastia. Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate is commonly named as a SERM (Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator), as an anti-estrogen and also a triphenylethylene. It is also prescribed to minimize the risk of invasive breast cancer following surgery and radiation therapy for ductal carcinoma in situ.

The side effects of Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate are generally low in doses of up to 30 mg on a daily basis. Nausea, hot flashes, numbness, vomiting and blurred vision can happen rarely. In women irregular menstrual cycles can occur that manifest themselves in weaker menstrual bleeding or even complete missing of a period. It increases the chances of developing uterine cancer. Women should have gynecological examinations on regular intervals. They should also be careful not to get pregnant while taking Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate.

Muscle-builders who take Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate also make use of anabolic steroids simultaneously. Various musclemen like to use Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate at the end of a steroid cycle since it raises the body’s testosterone production. Jocks who have propensities toward gynecomastia, strong water retention and increased fat deposits with steroids such as D-bol, Testoviron Depot, Anadrol, and Deca Durabolin frequently take 20-30 mg Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate per day. The blended application of Nolvadex 20-30 mg/day and Proviron 25-50 mg/day leads to outstanding outcomes.

Take Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate correctly as prescribed. Don’t stop taking Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate without consulting the doctor. Before starting Nolvadex-Tamoxifen Citrate, it is also important to tell the physician about all allergies, problems, infections or other important things.

Even Moderate Drinking Can Lead To Breast Cancer

While most people avoid alcohol due to its intoxicating effects, which usually causes a lot of accidents and untoward incidents, and the high risk of a number of diseases, including liver cirrhosis, infection of the pancreas, among others, its positive effects and health benefits are also gaining popularity especially when it is taken in moderation.
Moderate drinking means one to two glasses of wine daily. From improving heart health to lowering cholesterol, moderate consumption of red wine can help you stay healthy. The antioxidants in red wines have been shown to provide certain protection against heart disease as they act like warriors, preventing the oxidation process whereby reactive particles known as “free radicals” cause damage to healthy cells. Alcohol has been shown to help your heart in several ways: by raising your HDL (high-density lipoproteins) or "good" cholesterol, lowering blood pressure and preventing the formation of blood clots.
However, there's a new twist of fate to alcohol drinkers, especially among party girls, as recent studies show some link between alcohol and breast cancer in women. Having one to two drinks a day, once considered as moderate drinking, is now being linked to the higher risks of breast cancer in women. The said increase in risk of breast cancer among women who regularly consume alcohol has risen by 10 percent. Make that three or more drinks a day, and the risk triples to 30 percent.
According to Dr. Yan Li, lead researcher at Kaiser Permanente, they were able to compile and analyze data on the drinking habits of 70,033 women of various races and backgrounds. Their study was focused on determining whether the type of alcohol or just the amount a woman drinks impacts her breast cancer risk. “It makes no difference if a woman drinks wine, beer or liquor. It's the alcohol itself and the quantity consumed that is critical,” Dr. Li said. In fact, drinking three or more drinks a day may translate into an extra 5 percent of all women developing breast cancer as a result of heavy drinking.
In 2000, a Danish study had found that red wine drinkers had half the risk of dying from heart disease as non-alcohol drinkers. However, some researchers are not convinced and recommends further studies regarding health benefits of red wine. The American Heart Association requires for more research until they do consider drinking wine or any other alcohol for its benefits.

Though the cause of increased risk for breast cancer by heavy use of alcohol remains a mystery, Dr. Li and her colleagues believe that further study may support the evidence that alcohol could alter the pathway of female hormones and produce more hormone sensitive breast cancer.
According to Heather Spencer Feigelson, spokeswoman for the American Cancer Society, “the risk of drinking one glass of red wine a day is very low. It's an individual choice.” With further studies still needed to prove whether the heart-health benefits outweigh the newly shown risk of breast cancer, the decision is up to the women if they still want their glass of red wine as long as they analyze their own risk of heart disease and breast cancer. “Each woman has to analyze her own risk factors to determine what alcohol will do to them,” said Dr. Li

Life After Cancer

Life after Cancer Treatment

Cancer sucks. When I was 4 years old, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. The experts said she had less than a year. I remember being on the street, crying, on the roof of my dad’s car, screaming ‘MOM!!!!!’ to the hospital, while she waived at us from a window way up.

My mom had 6 sisters, 3 died of cancer. She also had 7 brothers. One of them died of cancer. She’s been to more operations and treatments than anyone I know. Her breasts were amputated, as well as her ovaries and uterus. She also had something about her colon and one simple cosmetic thing on her face. (The latter had beauty purposes)

Right now, as I write this, I’m 22 and very happy to announce that my mom is still alive and kicking. Awesome isn’t?

Here’s what she says to me all the time:
‘I didn’t care what the doctors said…I had to see you grow up’.

You’d be surprised if you saw her. For her age, she has a nice figure. She kicks ass in skiing and is very energetic, all the time. Since my mom is a walking monument of survival, I decided to ask her what her views on cancer are and how she managed to survive and maintain a smile all these years.

When I asked her about her ‘survival techniques’ I was pretty surprised. Not only for the ‘common sense’ type of answers that she gave me, but also for the medical arguments she has to back them up. She has a Biology degree and I’ve seen her, first hand, walking the talk. For these reasons, I feel the obligation to spread her word and let others know.
Tips from a cancer survivor

The following are tips. Your goal should be to understand them and then apply as many as possible.

Eat healthy, NATURAL food

Ready made food is the worst. It has too many preservatives. If you’re the kind of person pre-set for cancer, this is like an accelerator in a time bomb. You also want to avoid canned food. I know it’s easy to make, but a couple of minutes more and extra pennies will save you much pain in the long run.

Instead, what you do want to do is eat a lot of Antioxidants. Not to beat the old dead horse, but you have to eat fruits and vegetables EVERY DAY. Not so much a lot, but EVERYDAY. This isn’t hard. Make it a habit that the first thing you have in the morning is a fruit. Like an Apple, orange, banana…or whatever.

If you don’t like fruit, put the fruit in a blender with milk and a bit of sugar or yogurt and start your day with a smoothie. Also, whenever you’re hungry and are about to prepare yourself a snack; try grabbing a fruit instead. While you’re waiting for that pasta, have an apple.

Is very important that when you’re stomach is close to empty, you grab a fruit, or a vegetable. It’ll get digested fast and easy and it will provide your body with a nice amount of Antioxidants.

If you don’t like vegetables, cook them. Onion and broccoli suck. BUT, soup with onion, tomato and a nice recipe could be amazing! There are plenty of books on healthy recipes out there. Eat salads too on a daily basis.

Also, when cooking, choose your oil with care. Use very little of it and make sure is mono-saturated like olive oil. Olive oil is awesome by the way. It has Hydroxytyrosol. It is a very powerful Antioxidant. Also, soy oil is pretty good too. These things have Omega 3 and 6.

Note: The topic of Antioxidants is very, very important. You must understand what they are, how they work and how they affect the human body.

Drink lots of water. LOTS! All the time!!

For example, when you’re eating dinner, rather than complimenting it with can juice, drink water. When you’re thirsty and feel like sipping a pop, drink water. Just like eating a fruit when the stomach is empty, the same goes for water.

An amazing habit that I have the pleasure to have pioneered, is to everyday, first thing in the morning, right before the morning coffee, have an apple and a glass of water. Also, bring a bottle of water to work/school, and keep refilling it all day long.

No Alcohol

It’s ok to drink alcohol every now and then. Actually, one of the reasons wine is recommended is because it has Antioxidants.
But, by no alcohol, I mean don’t get wasted all the time.

Sleep well

Sleeping is so key. When you’re sleeping, your brain is producing chemicals that help your body. Plus, your whole system is resting and getting stronger. Plus it just feels good, so make sure you have a comfortable bed and sleep as much as you need to.

Have Fun

Simply stated: ‘Do whatever YOU want’
Go out on Friday night and have a blast with your friends. Learn a musical instrument and jam with people. Learn a new language, travel, walk around nature, go skiing, and sky diving. Just do the things that you enjoy. These things are like sources of happiness and well-being. They offer nothing but benefits.

Have Goals

This is something incredibly important. If you have a mayor purpose, something to look forward to, you’ll be much fulfilled just doing the required work to achieve your goal. It is not so much the destination but the path that’s important.

How about helping a charity? Or starting a business? Learning a new language and going to another country for 3 months? Plant a new garden on your yard and see it grow.

From personal experience, I must say that one of the major things that gave my mom the fire to fight was the following statement:
To see her son grow up. Right now, she says she’s in a stage of her life where she’s setting new goals. We’re actually looking into investing in Real Estate.

Trust me, goals and projects that are meaningful to you will keep you alive. So start right now. What is that one thing that you’ve always wanted to do?

Exercise

Do it a little bit, everyday. Adapt the exercise to your particular situation. My mom has a little machine with a couple of marbles and things in her room. She works like 10 minutes everyday. Only a couple exercises. She also swims a lot and skis. Again, do things that will keep you in shape. Try yoga out. Walk, Bike, Dance, Stay active.

Have a positive attitude

A good mental state is so key. Living a life with your emotions balanced is so awesome. Choose the people around you very carefully. Avoid whiners and the chicken littles of life. Make sure you’re around positive people that will help you out and motivate you.

Sharing time with people that also have goals and that want to be with you to share the fun of being alive is very rewarding. People that have your same state of mind and are motivated by the same activities will add massive value to your life.

Love

Experience love, develop your spiritual energy, Love yourself and give yourself importance. If you don’t like yourself, do something so that you do. Achieve something. Loving yourself will make sure that others love you. That way you’ll be surrounded by awesome people and have a loving special someone.

Making love is also strongly recommended. Do it often. Please your partner. Have fun. As a healing mechanism, and happiness generator, it has no match.

Be realistic and optimistic

Deal with problems in a realistic way. Be effective and quick. Seek help if you have to. At the same time though, don’t let bad things take over you. There’s always a solution. Even if it means dropping the problem because is something out of your control.

Obstacles, in anything, are a part of life. You learn something every time you make a mistake or have a set-back. Just keep going.

Be financially smart

Don’t buy into debt. Make sure you live within your means. Then, expand your means. Don’t work too much either. Invest in your tranquility. Give yourself pleasure, but be careful with debt.
Learn to manage your money.

It’s been said that a lot of people under stress and that develop diseases are suffering of cancer of the wallet. Again, use your money in smart ways. Think of the future.

So there you have it. Simple isn’t it? I really hope, deep down inside, that this article helps someone out.

Dealing with Cancer Pain

Cancer is associated with a lot of things. Grief, sadness, death, chemotherapy, baldness, and many others are all words or

things that have some sort of link to another. However, one thing that is prevalent, no matter what form of cancer one has,

is pain. The fact is, cancer causes pain and, in some extreme cases, the therapy needed to put the cancer in recession also

causes its share of pain. While not everyone that has cancer requires regular doses of pain relief medication, there is a

large segment of them that do. Just what is it about cancer, and some of the treatments for it, that causes so much pain?

Cancer can cause pain by its very nature. As the core of the cancerous cells spreads, it begins to kill more and more of the

healthy cells around it. In some people, this process can have them reaching for pain relief drugs rather quickly, while for

others, it may not even register. Also, as the cancerous tumor grows in the body, it starts to put a large amount of pressure

on whatever organs or systems are around it. Depending on the cancer, this can include muscles, lungs, the heart, or the

brain. This pressure can also trigger a powerful pain response in a number of patients. Finally, the cancer may secrete a

number of chemicals that can cause the brain to register a pain response, though this is a trait that does not appear in all

known cancers.

The medication for these problems generally does not wander very far from standard pain relief medications. Among the more

commonly suggested medications are analgesics, such as aspirin or Tylenol. These drugs are relatively low-intensity, which is

usually fine for most cancer patients, particularly if the tumor cells have gone into recession. For instances when something

more potent is needed to provide the patient with pain relief, there are other options that a doctor can look into. For

moderate cases, some doctors will rely on low-strength opioids such as codeine, or non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs

such as ibuprofen. Finally, in the most drastic cases, high-intensity opioids can also be used, though these are only rarely

prescribed due to their highly addictive nature.

Some people might complain that they aren't getting adequate medication or treatment for their condition. One factor behind

this might have to do with the knowledge of the doctor in charge. There are some doctors who do not ask about pain in cancer

patients, and are thus unaware of the problem. There are also some doctors who do not have the knowledge necessary to

properly treat pain. If that is the case, it is acceptable and advisable to ask that you be referred to a pain specialist to

help with the problem. However, if the patient himself refuses or is reluctant to reveal that they are feeling pain, then the

doctor can do very little. It is best to remember that a doctor is only able to treat the problems that he is aware of, so

keeping him in the dark might do more harm than the illness itself.

Prevent Colon Cancer With Colon Cleansing

Did you know that colon cancer is one of the fiercest killer diseases in the USA that claim thousands of lives every year? Unknown to many, it can be prevented by incorporating few lifestyle changes and a regular screening. In fact, it has been estimated that one-third of deaths from colon cancer can be prevented if people over the age of fifty go for a regular screening test along with regular colon cleansing.

Let us examine how this type of cancer occurs in the colon or rectum. The colon and rectum, which are the part of our digestive system, constitute a long, muscular tube like organ called the large intestine. The first six feet of large intestine is called colon, while rectum covers the last 8 to 10 inches of the large intestine. Sometimes cancer affects both rectum and colon; in that case it may be called colorectal cancer.

The two primary functions of colon include conservation of water in the body and elimination of the waste materials from the system. Then another function of colon is to help the body absorb healthy nutrients from food through the healthy bacteria that reside in the colon.

When the diet is low on fiber, colon finds difficulty from eliminating all the feculent matters from it and fecal matters continue to get stored in colon. This leads to accumulation of toxic elements in it. The toxic environment in the colon can trigger off many health problems among which the most fatal is colon cancer.

The following risk factors can increase the chances of colon cancer in certain persons.

* The chances of developing colon cancer increases with growing age and the disease is most commonly found in the people over fifty years of age. Although, the occurrence of colon cancer at an early age can not be altogether ruled out.

* Colon cancer has a very close relation with dietary habits particularly in the cases where the diet is rich in fat and low in fiber.

* Polyps which begin as benign growths in the walls of colon may lead to the development of cancer and a genetic condition called familial Polyposis, if not taken seriously have proven chances of leading to colorectal cancer.

* Then the people with a family history of colon cancer are more likely to develop colon cancer.

* The patients with ulcerative colitis also run the risk of developing colorectal cancer.

To prevent colon cancer, it is important that you should keep all the internal organs free from mucous and toxins. The organs are at their healthiest and function most efficiently, when they are free of toxins. Colon cleansing can help your body rid itself of toxic elements. A healthy colon in turn aids in the digestive process and regains its natural efficiency in eliminating the wastes from your system.

You can choose from a number of colon cleansing techniques that range from taking herbal supplements and oxygen based oral capsules to colon irrigation with hydrotherapy.

To summarize, colon cancer is a preventable disease if you become a little careful about what you consume. Colon cleansing at regular intervals along with a healthy dietary practice reduce the chance of developing colon cancer even more.

Goji and Cancer

According to World Health Organization statistics, more than 10 million new cases of cancer are diagnosed annually. The disease kills more than 6 million people each year, making cancer the second leading cause of death throughout the world.

In the United States alone, cancer has just eclipsed heart disease to become the country’s number one killer.

There is much that you can do to decrease your risk of cancer and to help your body to battle it should it strike. With a little education, you can arm yourself against this deadly enemy.

What Is Cancer?

Cancer is a group of many related diseases that begin in cells, the body’s basic building blocks. To understand cancer, it is helpful to know what happens when normal cells become cancerous.

Normally, cells grow and divide to produce more cells as they are needed to keep the body healthy. Sometimes, this orderly process goes wrong. New cells form when the body does not need them, and old cells do not die when they should. The extra cells form a mass of tissue called a growth, or tumor. Not all tumors are cancerous; tumors can be benign or malignant.

Benign tumors are not cancer. They can often be removed and, in most cases, they do not come back. Cells in benign tumors do not spread to other parts of the body. Most important, benign tumors are rarely a threat to life.

Malignant tumors are cancer. Cells in malignant tumors are abnormal and divide without control or order. Cancer cells invade and destroy the tissue around them. They can also break away from a malignant tumor and enter the bloodstream or lymphatic system, which can carry them throughout the body, causing new tumors to form in other organs. The spread of cancer is called metastasis.

Scientists have learned that cancer is caused by changes in genes that control normal cell growth and cell death. Certain lifestyle and environmental factors can damage genetic DNA, causing the genes to mutate and promote cancer growth. The National Cancer Institute lists five prime causes of cancer-promoting genetic mutations: tobacco use; poor diet; UV radiation from the sun; exposure to environmental toxins and pollutants; and inherited predisposition to cancer.

DNA is the most vital chemical in your body, carrying the blueprint of your entire genetic history. Goji’s betaine and master molecule polysaccharide can restore and repair damaged DNA, protecting your body’s ten trillion cells.

Cancer Prevention and Treatment

You can reduced the risk of getting cancer by not using tobacco products, avoiding harmful rays of the sun, exercising regularly, avoiding obesity and choosing foods with less fat, and consuming more vegetables, whole grains, fruits and juices – especially cancer-preventive, phytonutrient-rich goji.

Goji is one of the only plant species one earth that contains the anti-cancer mineral germanium. Its antioxidants are unique polysaccharides can stop the genetic mutations that can lead to cancer.

Goji increases stamina and endurance, and helps to eliminate fatigue — especially when recovering from illness. Lymphocytes are specialized white blood cells that are of crucial importance to the adaptive part of the body’s immune system. The adaptive portion of the immune system mounts a tailor-made defense when dangerous invading organisms penetrate the body’s general defenses. Goji increases lymphocyte count and helps to activate them when the body is under attack.

Goji has been shown to enhance the effects of radiation in combating cancer, allowing a lower dose to be used. Other research indicates that goji can protect against some of the noxious side effects of chemotherapy and radiation.

Goji polysaccharides have been shown in Chinese studies to enhance the production of IL-2, a crucial cytokine (cell protein) that induces potent anti-tumor responses in a variety of cancers. Goji also kills tumor cells by inducing apoptosis, a process in which cancer cells are broken down and recycled.

Patients receiving a cancer drug together with goji exhibited response rates up to 250 percent better than those obtained by the drug alone. These advanced cancer patients experienced amazing regressions of malignant melanoma, renal cell carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, lung cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma and malignant hydrothorax. Remission of cancers in patients treated with goji lasted significantly longer than those treated without goji.

Research and traditional use for cancer prevention suggests a daily intake of 2 to 4 ounces of high-quality standaridized goji juice, taken with meals. For cancer management, take 4 to 8 ounces daily, to be taken with meals.
